Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Tight as the day I picked it up although of course being a diesel it's now running much better.
Apart from maintenance items like filters and oil all I have replaced is a windscreen (rock on the freeway), OS headlight washer jet assy (wallaby tail) and the AC compressor at about 85,000 km. I had a Denso compressor put in and it seems better than the OEM one so far.

          I've had my 1.8tsi for 2190 days. Averaged 62.6km/day for $12,795 of (mainly) 98ron (9109L) = 6.65L/100km. Pretty happy with that.
2 problems in that time. N75 valve & water pump. No rattles or squeaks.

Sorry I can't remember exactly but it was under $1500 installed.

So 6.447L/100km consumption. I notice the reading is 0.6L/h while idling - is that with the aircon engaged? My Golf 90 TSI reads 0.5L/h without the aircon on and 0.7L/h with it on.

Air cond on and 90% of the miles would have been within the boundaries of metro Melbourne. I did 1000km one weekend in February this year and didn't need to fill up till I got home. Averaged 5.2L/100km including going over Mt Hotham.
