There were no indications on the dash. Only when the front wheels started to spin in the wet on road and in the mud off road that I knew that something was amiss.

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Wonder if the Haldex fluid was changed at 60,000? I can easily imagine a lazy dealer leaving it ... i quite like 'testing' out the traction control in the wet and seeing the light come on as it kicks in. Happening far too often at the mo (even in the dry) on these ageing Rockstone tyres the PO put on to save dough for the RWC. They were actually quite good for the first 20k km. Looking at Pirelli p7s or Michelins very soon.

I asked for the haldex oil to be changed at 60000km service as per the manual and dealer declined, stating that for your car it is not needed yet. Needless to say used another dealer for the 75000 km service and the oil was changed for free. Second dealer stated that it should have been done at 60000km and the other dealer probably didn't have the oil in stock.2011 Octavia Scout Premium (MY12) Artic Green

I used to think I was anal-retentive until I started getting involved in car forums
