Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. Why aftermarket leather Byron Jetta?

Im looking at getting the wagon in ambition + w leather. Figured the quoted price is a steal, but probably not the best quality.

The system is way more difficult to upgrade than in the older Gen cars. You can't just swap them out like the RNS510...

Factory Leather for my 2013 RS was $1750. Why do you want aftermarket?

It's usually more like leather & less like plastic?

Leather isn't an option with Ambition, only Ambition plus. But maybe Ambition plus with leather ($1200 according to pricing overview) is a better deal than aftermarket leather. I will do the sums.

Worth noting that optional extras don't really count to resale but trim levels do. So a decked out Ambition will get less than a standard Ambition Plus, especially if its a dealer thats just getting the price from redbook.

It won't cover the cost of the spec jump, but it will get you an extra $1000 or so come resale, so worth keeping in mind.

How would they tell the difference?

Ok, here are my sums for the Ambition Plus:

                  Ambition plus Wagon Manual $28,140
                  Columbus 8" SatNav $2,650
                  Colour MaxiDot $150
                  Factory Upholstery leather/fabric $1,200
                  TOTAL $32,140
So exactly $1,000 more than optioned up Ambition (assuming aftermarket leather was $2.5k).

For that extra $1,000 I get:
                  - Height-adjustable driver and passenger seat with lumbar support
                  - Rear side air bags
                  - Passenger Protect Assist
                  - Fatigue Detection

                  Which I suppose ain't bad.

That is a no brainer IMHO... I see $2k of value at least... (actually the wheel upgrade alone would be $2k on a BMW !)

Also remember that what you have listed are RRP, so if say you get 3% discount, it may save you extra $1k.

You get all that with the Travel Pack which I included in the optioned up Ambition price.

The factory leather option on the ambition plus is like the standard leather in the rs.... just the side bolsters. I still maintain use your phone and Bluetooth the audio so you hear the instructions through the stereo. I've got a similar spec car, but with tech pack instead of satnav. Tech pack includes rear led taillights, adaptive cruise, bi xenon lights with cornering function, Canton stereo, city stop, auto park, front and rear sensors...... Loads more kit for just over 30k. You can always get leather down the track if it bothers you that much.
Edit: come resale I bet xenon's and kick arse stereo and other goodies will net more that an outdated satnav

What?! So no leather in the centre of the seat?

There's a rumour that the Aus MY15 Ambitions will get the Bolero (touch without nav) instead of the craptacular Swing. If you're is a factory order it'll get upgraded for free though.
