Ok hi all. I have been on here for a while and added a bit to the forum but not as much as I would really like. I'm a bit of a tinkerer I don't believe that any one car is perfect for it's owner so I fiddle with them until I'm happy.

My occy came to me in race blue stock standard with 37,000km on the clock. It is now about 65,000km and I have made a heap of changes and modifications and think it's time to give a bit back.

There are a few things that I have had to do (manly door locks) that nobody else has really documented that I would really like to put to paper.

At this point my mods and maintenance issues are:
    BSH PCV Deleate
    Rear door lock replacement
    Servicing
    Coil replacement
    Head unit changes
    3 downpipe change
    Dog bone insert
    Rear camera install.
    Handbreak gator failure
    After market headunit
    Tow bar and wiring
    Slotted front rotors

Watch this space, as I get time I will update this page.

The car when it was new.

What dog bone insert did ya go for and what was the verdict on vibrations?

    Manual or dsg?

Also is 2008 pre or post FL?

The dog bone was a superpro one from gal rally sport. P/n spf3361-80k. Yes there are some more vibrations but the changes in how the car behaves are amazing. I don't really get axl tramp any more and the power really feels like it goes to the ground evenly.

The car is pre FL and manual.

My handbrake (skoda call it a ) blind is stuffed as well. If you get an Aussie price let me know. I couldn't be shagged calling the dealership. They are about GBP16 (AUD30) in the UK plus postage.
ebay has them for AUD40 + AUD100 postage!!!

Partno for the onyx (dark) colour should be 1Z07131879B9 (check though)

Darkshadow - yup down pipe fitted. I will do up a little story about it when I get to a computer it's a bit hard on my phone.

Brad - skoda call it a gator I think I paid $75 for it. Next time it fails I will be looking elsewhere for it.
There are a few guides on the net for replacing it o think the one I used was on briskoda

So far witht the 3" system and 200 cell cat I still get a cell light. It seems that when the car runs more than 3 minutes in closed loop it triggers a fault. Unfortunately there is not much I can do about this except reset the fault with torque app until the phase 2 tune .

I will take pics of the existing pipe and install probably next weekend when I get the chance.

The handbrake blind - I took mine out (while I had the console out for something else) and sewed the bits together, then cut off any daggy bits from the runners on the side and ran a door lock lube stick along the whole edge. Not sure how long it'll last.

The other thing that might work is glueing fabric tape along the length underneath.

Some good ideas there Mr tamar. It just proves 2 heads are better than 1.

I just emailed my local dealer for a price. Sent him the partno. He insists on a VIN. What's he going to do if I want passat LCAs for my Octavia - that won't compute at all.

One of the reasons I don't really like dealing with dealers. Perhaps Lucas' bro could help you out?

BTW you could try using a 42dd spacer until you get the stage 2 tune. It can be purchased off carformance.

I politely asked him to enter the number into his parts system & promised to provide my VIN if we got to a point where an order was being placed.

The reply was $69 (ex or inc GST doesn't really matter).

Am waiting on a reply from Horton & Simpson Skoda in the UK if they'll ship to AU & how much. Their online price is <GBP15.

I think Lucas has a spare 42DD spacer

Fitted new plugs and a GFB DV+ last night the plugs are a Brisk brand and really different in design the have a silver based centre electrode and not platinum or irridium. The have smoothed the idle out a bit and feels to have a bit more pull when you jump on the loud peddle.

The new unit is on the right. The old plugs had done 60k km and still look ok.

With the DV+ the car seems to hold boost better my old valve was a rev g and still looked in good condition.

I did my plugs at 90k (which is the schedule in the owners manual & they looked "as new" too.

Those Brisk pugs look interesting. Looking forward to your feedback. What's the ballpark price?

The brisk plugs were about $70 delivered I got them of eBay. I need to drive a bit more with them. If you YouTube the there are comparison videos with normal plugs and these. The sparks are very different to normal and hopefully gives a better flame front in the cylinder.
