aftermarket. looks like anything for a mk v jetta will bolt on an Octavia. so that includes the US for pre-manufactured parts.

    UK for Octavia specific.

or go to a local exhaust shop, get them to change the cat-back or remove the mid-muffler

If you do a 3" downpipe it will open up a bit of voice, also it will take some of the heat stress out of the turbo & help it spin up quicker / better.

Apart from that, what ^^^^ said. Jetta stuff usually fits or chop that big pancake muffler out from the middle

Changing the downpipe can make it a bit deeper, but if Octavia's are the same as Golfs this probably will chuck a CEL without a stage 2 tune?

You can get spacers that can work to eliminate this issue, although with mixed results. There is one available in the 42DD range that Greg Roles/Carformance (forum sponsor) sell; I can definitely vouch for the downpipe from this range as well.

certainly NOT the cheapest way, but get an APR exhaust

considering the GTi & the RS have the same downpipe, i'd focus on the catback section if you want to "sound like a GTi".
unfortunately i don't know which catback will achieve that for u.

GTi and RS don't use the same downpipe the GTi one is much longer.

any less muffling in the back section will open up the DSG fart. the down pipe proabably wont help much. I have a down pipe and stock cat-back. sound is the same. power is not

I thought the vRS had much the same (perhaps not identical, but very similar) exhaust setup as the Mk6 GTI?

The down pipe is very similar (ok so mabye the Octy DP is shorter overall, but they both contain the same 2x catalytic converters and same overall shape/design), and then you have a mid sized muffler just before the rear axle and then a larger muffler at the back. I know some Mk6 GTi owners get the muffler just before the rear axle removed to increase noise, so perhaps you could try this. Would be a pretty cheap ($100 or so) exercise.

Otherwise, i wonder how much work would be required to fit a Mk6 GTi cat back to the Octy vRS?

                .
It won't chuck a CEL if you have a 200 cell catcon.

As an example (sorry, can't find direct links):
APR Jetta exhaust The back muffler is tucked in the rear quarter panel
APR GOLF V Back muffler tucked into beaver panel
APR Golf VI Back muffler dual outlets & tucked behind beaver panel

For someone like me who likes everything to be symmetrical/even, that APR exhaust for the MK6 GTI just looks retarded and off balance.

As mentioned above, the system for the Jetta looks to be the closest match for the Octy.

it is effectively the same, as Lucas also pointed out, just longer on the GTi.
infact the apr downpipe is the same part number (CD100013) for the golf, jetta and octavia.

the jetta exhaust is an exact fit for the octy. its wat i have in mine now.
the golf exhaust requires modifcations to fit an octy.

Cromer Exhaust has a decent reputation.
