I'm actually liking this one better. You don't want to be pulling out that sensor too often. Steel screw - plastic manifold

Looks pretty good. So in our case you would be shooting that into the intake pipe before the MAF? I.e. after disconnecting airbox etc...

I only tried today a similar method as to my posted video using a hose and an air pump needle. Used about 500ml whilst idling the car at temp around 2000rpm. Almost nothing came out?

This is what came out, would you say its anything significant? I've got the nulon air intake foaming spray can waiting to be used before my next service in about 4,000km...

I do my own services and run a can of Subaru upper engine cleaner every service (since I've had the car) and I have also done a engine flush last oil change.

I'f I knew someone with a bora scope so I could see the back of the valves I would take some pictures before and after the UEC is put in.

I do notice some difference but not a great deal. I will be manually decarbonizing the valves in about 20,000km I think.

                Thanks Gavin,

For once I hadn't even thought looking on eBay!!

I was going to stick it in the temp probe hole in the front of the manifold.
The camera is 10mm in Dia so I will pull the probe out tonight and see if I can get it in the manifold.

Jaycar sell them too, more expensive though.

I'd be interested to see those before and after shots if you get them.

Ok I just measured the hole. It was a bit hard with the engine cover on the fsi but it looks to be about 12-13mm.

The camera is 10mm in dia so should fit nicely. It will just be the length that is the problem.

I will order the camera in a moment.

I was faffing about the other day & disconnected the flexible pipe from the MAF. You really don't want to be shooting too many chemicals through the MAF IMO. I discovered that the chemicals pool in the ribs of the flexible pipe (not a huge issue - they'll be sucked in or evaporate eventually). I think a better way would be to disconnect the flexible pipe from the pipe that runs along the back of the engine and mist the water / chems in there.

That 2L sprayer in the Revive video can be bought for about $5 at Bunnings. The bigger sprayers (5L?) with the spray wand are about $12. You can shove the wand down the pipe a bit.

edit: I barely get any smoke / carbon coming out of mine. Never used to get much on my Subaru either.

Keep in mind that you are trying to push the rubbish through 2x 800 cell cats, a humongous pancake muffler & the rear muffler. I'm surprised any exhaust gasses come out with that lot to contend with

                        Agreed with Brad,

I would not be spraying anything except contact cleaner on my MAF.

If you could get the spray after the MAF into the UP pipe that would be ok, I just wonder how much crud would be left over in the bottom of the Inter cooler?

I used the Nulon air intake foam recently on my Mk6 GTi, my Golf R and also my uncles IS250 Lexus. It does the job. I have previously used the Subaru cleaner, but its hard to get.

Fair bit of gunk came out the back of the GTI (55,000km and most likely never cleaned before)

Not much gunk out of the R (ive cleaned the valves before about 4 times and the car only has 20,000km on it)

Heaps of gunk out the back of the IS250 (direct injection 2.5L V6) with 80,000km on it. I was changing the spark plugs, which on the IS250 requires removal of the inlet manifold. So i cleaned the butterfly valves, throttle body, inlet manifold and sprayed a heap down to where the valves are. Huge ploom of stinky crap bellowed out the exhausts when i fired it up. My uncle has reported that the car is running ever so smoothly, and feels more pokey too - whether that was just from the new spark plugs or a combination of spark plugs and clenaing i don't know.

Thanks guys! My car is a 2009 model with 36,000km on it. Will use the nulon and maybe will remove my stage 2 pipe and shoot it down what remains of the sleeve. Will report back if there is any smoke or gunk....

I've also purchased liqui moly engine detox treatment too use before the oil and filter change....

The endoscope arrived last night so next service in 4000km I will take pictures of the valves that I can get to before and after a UEC.
