Spark Plugs Which ones for 2.0 TFSI

Hi All,

Looking at replacing my plugs while im doing the R8 coli change.
The Bosch plugs that I am supposed to use are FR6KPP332S.

These are pretty expensive. Is there an alternative that I can use?

I have searched and cant find anything except for an NGK plug PFR6Q.
I have also found and recorded that a BKR7EIX will work, Im skeptical about this one though.

Any help would be appreciated.

What do you call pretty expensive? I bought my last set of plugs from the dealer - they were about $23 each which isn't OTT for a 60k-90k service life.

NGK recomended plug is PFR7S8EG according to the NGK web site. If you give them a ring a real live Aussie based in Australia will answer the phone & tell you what's what.

By all appearances the Bosch recommendation is different to the NGK recomendation - kind-of. F6KPP332S is same as FR6KPP332S except for resistor.

If you know your engine code then you could buy whatever fits a GTI from the USA. Champion iridiums are only about USD7.50ea, Bosch are about $USD15

Platinum spark plugs aren't like the $4 units that go in your mower - you might get out of it for $18-20 if you shop around. Possibly cheaper from O/S. /looks on ebay... Bosch = ~$73 delivered for 4; NGK $66; Denso double platinum $56

I think the prime objective is to verify the partno. I've had wrong (too hot) spark plugs in a previous vehicle & it aint pretty.

Work out the correct partno, use a cross reference chart, pick your preferred brand & double check the partno on their website & trawl ebay / internet

You can get them from USA for about $60 incl delivery if you are happy to wait a week or two for postage. I just replaced the spark plugs in my GTI and used NGK Platinum PFR7S8EG (my friend also uses these in his 2.0TFSI Mk5 GTI).

That first link Lucas provided is what I found.

I'm a fan of NGK and would use them over Bosch.

I also like Denso plugs from back when I worked at Toyota but have no idea what they are like now.

My last car was a XT Forester, which required platnum plugs as well.
There was a brand of plugs on the market that I used that were $40-50 delivered and well used through out the Subaru community.

I guess where I was going with my request was if there were other alternatives from the plugs that seem to have been produced for this platform.

So your suggestion is the NGK's I have heard this from other sources as well.

Subaru use NGK, also ND is a choice for many Japanese car manufacturers.

Sorry I told a lie with the Forester plugs. They were iridium.

The ones I used were these:

I was pretty happy with them and knew alot of other people who bought them as well.

I used to run the same NGK Iridiums in my Liberty. Not sure why you can't get them for a VW.
