      That's the point about VW/TSI oil consumption that I don't like - the variable nature of VW/TSI oil consumption which creates quality control concerns

      Years ago Fiat/Lancia defended oil consumption (which was a fraction of my VW/TSI oil consumption) saying that the final compression barrier is hydraulic, hence some oil consumption can be acceptable

      Back then I did a number of Fiat engine rebuilds which were all successful
      I helped a friend rebuild a Honda engine and that was a bit of failure
      The Honda engine used very low ring to bore pressure compare to Fiat/Lancia/Alfa
      The engine worked but it's power, smoothness and oil consumption were not good for a rebuilt engine
