New Octavia ....when? How Much?

Spotted a truck with 2 news Scouts turning off the M2 onto to Pennant Hills Road at about 7 this morning.

One was light blue and the other was white - looked quite reasonable, although I was quite surprised to see them this early considering the local dealer said June/July release. Had SCOUT logos down the side.

I was talking to a dealer today and he said he should be receiving one this week as well, although he wasn't sure whether he was allowed to tell or show anyone.

could someone please clarify this? I read the manual and this section is poorly worded. I have a very low garage roof and with the garage door open I need to be able to set a fairly low maximum opening position or it will hit the door. Currently with our Golf we have to chuck something in between the hatch and the garage door to stop it from damaging the car, which is the reason I ordered the auto tailgate! I assumed you could set any maximum height on the Skoda, which the manual seems to indicate, rather than pre-set positions.

Just to keep things on topic for the thread, I've ordered an RS wagon in candy white, DSG, tech, comfort and 18" black pack, panoramic sunroof, auto tailgate, extended warranty (i.e. just about everything) $48.5k driveaway with 12 months rego. Happy with that! As for when...

It is really easy in practice. The opening height is infinitely adjustable. You just adjust the tailgate to the desired height (either manually or with the buttons) then press and hold the button on the underside of the tailgate until it beeps and the lights flash and you are done.
To clear just move it manually to fully open and press/hold the button again.

Well you open it with the button (in car, key fob or tailgate) but you can stop it manually and then move it manually too.

As in grab the tailgate with your hand and force it to stop? This would answer my question in this thread a couple of weeks ago about being able to quickly stop the tailgate opening before it crashes into something overhead.

Yes or the outside. From the Skoda app/manual:

The movement of the lid can be stopped by applying an abrupt and quick force against the lid.

k_rider, I think you might need to go into a dealer and have a play with one. Sounds like it would be worth just manually opening it each time using the button so you can get it to go where you want each time. I park in all kinds of different spots and just found recently a tree branch hidden at my in laws has cracked my rear light without us even knowing. We opened the boot up ourselves, but that branch must have been very low, ie lower than the antenna to do the damage it did. Either that or the mechanics that had the car a week recently did something and hid the fact.

I was going to reply to your earlier post with this description, but wanted to test first. I haven't tested it yet . But when I do I will post it up. This is my understanding of how it operates.

Just compiling a 'wish list' of options for when I order a replacement for my current vRS, maybe late this year/early next year.

I'm tempted to go for the auto tailgate, but paranoid of it driving its automatic little self into a low hanging, immovable object! I'm guessing it's no worse than letting a 'manual' tailgate swing up on its gas struts, but I know that you can stop these, if you're quick enough! When the time comes I'll definitely try it out at dealer - assuming they have one available at the time, of course.

Anyway, thanks for all the feedback. I'm satisfied now that it can be stopped by hand if necessary (it's hard to imagine the designers wouldn't have considered various scenarios that risk damaging life and limb or bodywork). Still undecided whether to add it to the list or not...

You can also open the auto tailgate using the key fob and control its height. First, use the key fob to open the tailgate, while it is opening if you press the key fob button the tailgate will stop at which ever height it is at. If you press the key fob button again it will continue to open, pressing the key fob again will make it stop and so on and so forth.
