What a growl on the inside from the engine.

Glass roof open, music on, steering stiffened, adaptive headlamps that work beautifully.... What else could I have asked for?

Oh and in no time, you're at 100kph! Oops!
The trick is to look at the road and not your speedo Glad you're enjoying it

        Congrats on the new toy!!

After nearly 10,000km, I'm still looking forward to drive the car everyday.

What's missing is 'drama' from the already good driving experience. In this case, exhaust noise.

I've booked the car in this weekend to have the resonator box 'piped' (resonator delete). Hopefully, more 'drama' can be extracted

Will let you guys know how it goes.

          • 99reza, what are you doing? Please explain..

My next mod might be a MillTek exhaust.. Though I don't want a a consistent loud note, I want a growl and fart only when flooring it!

I did look into on company recommended by the dealer for protective clear tape/film to cover part of the bonnet and full bumper from stone chips etc. $1200! That's crazy!

            Might look at 3M?

I'll be replacing the Resonator box (located somewhere under the passenger seat) with a straight pipe. I'm hoping this will give the exhaust a growl without much side effect (raspiness is a possibility), but I'm not expecting much out of it.

There are plenty of video for GTI Mk7, but none for the Octavia RS and we couldn't really use the GTI one for reference as they have louder exhaust to begin with. I'll try to get some recording done for reference.

Where ya getting this done and how much may I ask? Also, won't this mean you'll have a drone at highway driving?

Have you seen the Milltek Valvesonic Exhausts that APR are importing now? I assume these are fully adjustable to do exactly what you want?

Edit: Just realised they don't do these for VW/Skoda just yet.

Will be getting this done at the exhaust shop in Slacks Creek (the one with the dog logo). They quote me $80 for non Stainless and $110 for Stainless, that's without looking at the actual dimension. Should be 30 - 45 minutes job. Your local exhaust shop should be able to do this.

Based on my previous vehicle, W203 C180 (non-kompressor), removing the resonator didn't introduce drone at any speed. It was just a bit louder from stock with slight throatiness. That engine is far from sporty.

Yes my wife obtained a quote to protect the bonnet and bumper/fenders in a clear vinyl wrap film and was quoted $1700. The whole care would be $4000-6000 and they would need the vehicle for two weeks. These prices seem ridiculously expensive. Would be cheaper to get any major stone chips or parking scratches resprayed. We are looking at getting the side protection strips from Superskoda to protect from the car park scratches and maybe a car bra for country trips.

Ummmm, won't you have to match the same material as your stock exhaust, otherwise end up with dissimilar metals corrosion?

I've told them I wanted a stainless pipe, which is what the stock pipe is made of, I think. Colour wise, it will be different initially as the new pipe will be fresh from dirt and grime.

Matt, was that the price from Superskoda delivered to Australia, as the bra itself is only €99.99 as per this link.

For galvanic corrosion to occur you need to meet all three of these requirements:
                                Metal to metal contact
                                Different potential of metal
                                wet joint

                                It satisfies #1

I doubt it satisfies # 2 as if he uses stainless it will probably be 304 or maybe 314 or 316 (304 is cheapest). The OEM exhaust appears to be 304. For the environment you wouldn't want more than 0.25v anodic difference. Plain carbon steels are 0.85v, aluminium is 0.95, Stainless is about 0.6v - so maybe / maybe not.

#3 - it's an exhaust. It might be a bit wet under certain conditions but in use it will be dry.

I've seen enough exhausts where the front pipes are MS & the rear pipes are SS and galvanic corrosion hasn't been an issue so it's not something to worry about IMO.
