  • Sparkplugs 2008 VRS Octavia FSI

    Hi Guys,
What spark plugs do I put in this engine? I went to the dealer and they wanted some amazing amount of money for a set.
My car is 54,000km old and its probably time they were done.

    What is everyone else using?

    Thanks in advance.

    Cheers
    Jason

NGK BKR7EIX's go well in the 2.0TFSI engines such as your car has. Gap them to 0.8mm.

I fitted a set of these to my mates MK5 GTi (same engine as your car) about 6 months ago. Approx $60 or so will get you a set of 4 and you can buy them locally/online etc.

According to the Skoda Service Schedule book, the change period is 90,000km. According to the dealerships "One size fits all" service schedule it's a 60,000km change interval.

I changed mine (1.8TSI) at 90,000km. The plugs that came out looked not much different to the new ones that went in. Performance, driveability & fuel consumption were unchanged.

I just bought a set of OEM (Bosch??) from the dealer as i was buying filters as well. They were around the $20 mark (ea)

I think mine were done at the 60k service, but now can't recall. Our car has only done about 50k from memory anyway so they either did them as per the schedule or didn't until it actually hits that many kms. I doubt they need changing in a 2008 RS with the amount of kms you have done. Ours is pretty much the same age/milage and 90k is pretty normal these days. If they are anything like the Mazda longlife ones they are pretty good.

Ok thanks for your replies guys.
I have just noticed a slight increase in fuel consumption recently since my last oil change.
I can get a full set for $41 so its cheap insurance and I know its done.
I have changed all other filters except for the fuel filter which I will do at the next service.

Checked my last service which was the 60k/4yr last Nov. The car had done 48k, everything else for the 60k service was done, but in the checklist there was nothing marked against the sparkplug replacement part. And they were the only item not listed there as being replaced in the list so I doubt they were changed. The fuel filter amongst pretty much every other filter was done though so if yours wasn't done at the 4 yr service as well as the others that would be odd.
