  • Octavia Oil Filter and Cabin Filter $

I'm changing my oil every 10k
It's cheap insurance and I'm trying to compensate for the extra kw
The aircon is not smelling great these days so I need a new cabin filter
Stopped into my local Skoda parts dealer on the way to work to get an oil filter and cabin filter
Total cost was $60 - add the oil (Liqui Moly) $65 - pretty cheap piece of mind

Where the heck are you getting LiquiMoly oil for $65? I assume you are getting 5L of 4200TopTec? Im paying $85-90 for that stuff.

Also i see Bold Sport have recently added OEM VW oil filters for the 2.0TSI engines for $15: Bold-Sport.com :: OEM Oil Filter - Priced Each

I can't even buy it at trade price for that, even if I buy it in bulk.

Sorry to dig up an old thread - better than starting a new one. I looked in the manual but can't find what I am after.

Pollen vs in car cabin filter .. are these terms used interchangeably ? I have seen some videos and can't work out whether it is the same thing or two different filters ?

Looks like my Mk2 Octavia RS will have the "in car cabin filter" that's in the passenger footwell somewhat similar to this video:

Is there another filter under the bonnet / windshield protection or is that for a different model Octavia ?

This looks like the right filter for me - which I will probably get the OEM from the dealer: Wesfil Cabin AIR Pollen Filter WACF0025 | eBay

                EDIT:

                Mk1 - under windshield
                Mk2 - passenger footwell

The filter was clean as. A few small leaves were in the filter only and not wet/mouldy or smelly at all.

I just vacuumed it and maybe that should be satisfactory - I had the issue of smelly air when changing between a/c on and a/c off.

                        the smelly stuff is microscopic.

Change it every 12m regardless of how it looked

You can get an aerosol can of goo you squirt in the AC to clean out mould that supposedly grows in there.

I've run the autoglym on my sisters jetta with good results. Prime the cap, place in footwell and run the aircon on high and recirculate without a cabin filter. Once the can is depleted, pop in the new filter and run for a few minutes.
