  • pre FL vRS Blowing Smoke

    Hey all,

Been a little while for me here. I've noticed recently that my pre-FL vRS is blowing smoke from the exhaust under heavy acceleration. I thought it was only happening when I wasn't fully warmed up but I've now noticed it a few times on a warmed up engine. It isn't blue or black so doesn't sound like oil. I'm taking it in for a service in a week or two so might be sorted then too.

Is this something I should be worried about?
    Any ideas?

Best thing to do is see what the dealer says mate..

Have you noticed anything different? E.G: running wise. Havent put in different fuels, oils etc in lately?

How often do you give it some? Maybe it needs a good Italian tune up in the hills?

Turbo car...full throttle/heavy throttle.....grey/black smoke = fuel. Nothing to worry about if thats the case.

Yea it's only under full throttle.
Might give it a good run in the hills this weekend h100vw just to double check though

They do belch out a bit of fuel smoke when you give the loud pedal a workout. Doesnt sound that abnormal to me.

Especially if you've got a ECU tune have have been mildly cruising, hit the loud peddle and a lot of muck comes out
After you've cleared it out you may only get the black puff on gear changes

Just check that the exhaust is dry/sooty

Heavy acceleration when not warmed up eh? Hmmmmm.

I'm guessing fuel being wasted, but it won't be long before it changes colour to blue unless you get out of the above habit.

Yea that does sound suss and is not normally what I'd do. I've just had once or twice when I've been caught out and needed to accelerate in traffic etc. I'm normally a short shifter all the way till the engine is warmed up.

Thanks for the reassurance guys that it isn't a big issue. Will get it checked out at the service in a few weeks though.
