Agreed - the other reasons are:
*The dampers are not able to work in perfect harmony with progressive springs
*When you have a hard hit that the soft side can't handle there is not much difference between hitting the hard side and the bump stops - the car can react badly, especially on shorter springs

    • I note that the Eibachs are/were a factory fitted option on the vRS from Skoda in Europe. Hard to imagine Skoda would permit such a factory option if the Eibachs were no good (including car behaving badly if/when hitting the bump stops), one would think?

      • There may have been an Eibach option but I would be a little surprised if it was the progressive option

I never said they were bad. I said that I prefer linear.

I have Eibach Pro-Kit on my car. I assume they are progressive as they are fairly soft initially. I had to cut 20mm off my bump stops to stop them from crashing.

I bought them because the price was right.

          • Unfortunately no part #'s included in this thread, but if you go onto the eibach website and put in Mk2 vRS combi or estate then it comes up with the part # E10-79-004-04-22 which is the progressive spring.

I am confused. The eibach website states they are a progressive spring but the picture looks more like a linear spring.

            The eibachs are progressive yeah?

            • The link is for the Sportline springs which are linear (and why they can give another 25mm drop on the std vRS).

The ProKit only gives a further 10-15 mm drop on the vRS (I really doubt there's 20mm drop)

Neither ProKit nor Sportline will (officially) work on your 4x4 which makes me wonder "Why do you ask 2 dogs?"

                4 x 4? I have a vRS.

So is the pro kit progressive?

Sorry, I'm confusing you with the Taswegian.

To the best of my knowledge Pro-Kit for the Octavia are progressive wound coils. It's best to double check with your supplier as there were some Eibach Prokit that were linear wound. Apparently they were "Euro-Spec".

To confuse the issue more, ProKit are generally painted black but some are painted red... and vice-versa for the SportLine.

Sportlines still available but according to the blurb they are progressive too!!! (WTF? - They look linear but it might be a "stock" photo.)

                    I'm ordering them from Europe!!!

How can the same part number be either progressive or linear depending on where (country) you order from?

                    • UK sites all state progressive, although I do note the first link below has a picture of linear springs but the words say progressive.

2nd link shows progressive pic and words.

Double check with Eibachdirect in Sydney before you order. Last time I checked pricing was the same (~ 3 months ago) as you could get landed here. Unfortunately he didn't have stock so I ordered from Europe anyway. But worth a check. I know they have Pro series available for Mk3 vRS cos I've been looking.

Also beware the photos. Most of the sites use a "stock" photo of a generic set of springs. Eibach.com.au has the catalogue which contains details and datasheets/TUV approvals. ps. Dont forget to change display language to english !

                        • Well got confirmation from both Eibach Australia and the European supplier I'm looking at that Eibach Springs E10-79-004-04-22 are linear.

This data sheet also confirms they're linear.

So I don't understand all of those UK websites saying they're progressive?

                          Anyway, linear is good right?

Nuespeed appear to do a lineal spring for wagons
