Also, just to note - I had a friend who was at the Festival of Speed at Goodwood. I asked how the car was in real life, he said:

"Looked good in person, looked terrible on the track and sounded like a V6 commodore..."

            • "Standard Skoda Octavia vRS equipment

You certainly get a generous amount of standard kit on the new vRS. It comes with 18-inch wheels, a vRS body styling kit, Bi-Xenon headlights with cornering function and LED daytime running lights on the outside.

The interior is adorned with features such as a three-spoke steering wheel with controls for the radio and telephone system, Bluetooth connectivity, dual-zone climate control, sports seats and a touchscreen stereo system.

There’s also lower sports suspension, rear parking sensors, automatic headlights, traction and stability control, a fatigue detection system which alerts the driver if the car senses they’re tired, a stop/start system, black door mirrors, black door handles, hill-hold assist, lane assistant, the automatic post-collision braking system and rear electric windows.

For the estate (or ‘Combi’) version you also get roof rails and a rear seat release to make loading bigger items a little easier.

Skoda’s Driving Mode Selection also features. This is a system which allows the driver to select from three modes – eco for economy, comfort and sports – and also to set up their own customisable mode for factors such as steering weight, engine response and the air conditioning system. It also affects the operation of the gearbox when the DSG gearbox is installed. These parameters are changed via the touchscreen on the dash and can be accessed by pressing the vRS button by the gear lever."

One hope that is all standard in the Australian Spec Octavia vRS?

I'd go for the 17" wheels. Hope the Bi-Xenon lights turn when your turn the front wheels? Also, shame the roof of the combi doesn't come in glass like the sedan/liftback does... as the combi has roof racks...

LOL timing is everything. Just finished watching the latest Top Gear ep and in the news section they were talking about the mode set ups being the biggest waste of money. Jeremy said that one car they tested lapped faster in comfort mode than sport. Hopefully Skoda got it right

It was the new Golf GTI they drove twice around the track. One with all the sports setting and the second time with normal settings... Car drove the same lap time! No difference in performance ...

Yeah, not a big fan of those tailpipes myself. Looks too much like a Lexus luxo-barge. Much prefer the twin round ones on the current vRS.

                      • TDI tailpipe setup looks very "try-hard". Even worse that the pipes don't seem to line up properly with the chromeware. RHS needs black spray paint on the exposed body parts.

So the 7spd in my Polo GTI is less reliable than the issues people had in their MKV Golf GTI's with 6spd DSG's?

I dunno, either way - happy to know the Octavia's are the most reliable VAG automobile out there

7spd has a 250nm torque limit. vRS petrol & diesel have more than 250nm.

The 7 spd will be available with the 77tsi/90tsi/118tsi models.

In a nutshell yes, the 7 spd is quite different in all aspects to the 6 spd, and has had the lions share of issues. At least that is covered under the recall stuff. The thing I would be worried about is the engine in the Polo GTi and Fabia RS hasn't had the best reliability.
