Am in need of someone in the Adelaide area that might have a VAGCOM VCDS?? I have a fault with the exhaust system on the TDI RS that i want to check codes on etc.
Had noticed it surging a little at random over the past couple of months, would only do it for a short time, but enough to be noticeable. Then on Friday the Exhaust control light came on. I thought it may have been due for a regen considering we had been doing a fair bit of city driving, but didn't get a chance to go for a long drive over the weekend. The wife said she didn;t see the DPF light come on at all. The wife then told me today the past 2 times she drove it (yesterday/today), it has gone into regen mode and she's had to let it idle to cool down before switching it off.
I've just taken it for a 1 hour highway run and it was doing a regen, but when i got home it was still in regen mode. I popped the bonnet and it didn't seem that hot, infact the egr pipe that goes into the intake was cool, which i thought was interesting. But the exhaust heat coming out the back was warmer then nromal so it is definatly in regen mode.
The car seems to be running fine, nice & punchy, no surging, only thing is fuel consumption is up a little but that's due to it being in constant regen mode. I have a feeling a sensor has failed in the exhaust system and has caused the ECU to think it needs to do a regen. I just need to get my hands on a VAGCOm to check the codes and double check the exhaust side of things to see what's failed, and then I'll go from there.........
