i'm looking at ex-demos, i've seen one with about 2000km in candy white vrs (or is it just rs?) with leather for just under $35K. Seems like a pretty good deal to me.

I have leather in my liberty, hot in summer, cold in winter. The GTI of course has heated seats so is very nice when its cold.

The leather seats in the Octy are surprisingly good in that regard, especially considering that they're black. I think the perforations really help here. The downside of the perforations though is that any leather treatment/cleaner tends to get stuck in them, so you get a bunch of random, little white dots all over the seat.

The alcantera/black mesh is used compared to all leather as it stops you sliding around. A lot of the recaro seats have it for that reason.

I know a lot of people use kids as an excuse to get Leather. Completely irrelevant, baby seats come with messy mats or you buy them and use towels. If anything the leather is worse as the kids can kick and scuff it as well as you need to protect it from car seats. Our 4.5 yr old RS has an immaculate back seat with a now 5 yr old and a 2yr old. Because kids are in cars seats until at least 7 plus, most new cars won't even see them out of the seats until they are old enough to know better. The baby/car seats bear most of the wear and tear and mess and the back floor.

Kids throw stuff. Leather doesn't absorb that stuff as readily as fabric. It works.

I haven't found the seats slippery at all. They are well bolstered on the side so unless you are prone to wearing velour tracksuits you are fine in them.

          Just my experience.

Signed papers yesterday on an ex-demo candy white vRS DSG wagon with leather. Will pick it up next Saturday. I have further questions but will make a new thread for that.

Thanks for answering my questions in this thread.

I have noticed that some rs wagons have a silver colored surround around the touch screen and centre controls, while others have a carbon fiber look which IMO opinion looks nicer. Is this an option or is it a model year change?

For those with newborns, is the rs OK in terms of rear space for a capsule/car seat? Any other things I should consider in terms of practicality in going for the rs?

How does the TDI compare to the petrol rs? I can't seem to find any reviews that compare them.

Thanks. Now to find a blue rs wagon! I've only come across a TDI model but not sure if I want a diesel.

They only had a silver one with leather and its price was $38990. No one came out to greet us so ended up going to Moorabin. They only had one white one with leather. I'm not the best negotiator but got it for $34k with an 8k trade in so a $26k change over. Trade in price is always lower than selling private but considering it needs 4 new tyres, and several other items of wear and tear its not to bad.

Also the rs has only 1,600km on it. Probably not even run in properly yet.

Good job. Were in the same position as you guys, mk6 gti, 1 baby and another on the way= not enough room. Just put the GTI on the market to see how we go, if it sells we're looking at a demo RS wagon if I can squeeze them on the price or possibly a used 09 rs wagon and then get a new generation rs wagon in about 18 months time.

Alto Pennant Hills have a new (at least, there are no rego plates on it), black RS wagon in their yard (been there about a month now). Going past the yard yesterday, I noticed a bright green sign in its windscreen with "Was... Now..." printed on it, which I guess, means it's had a price reduction.
