  • vRS as a driving school car

I just saw a vRS hatch all painted up in RACV driving school colours with a learner at the wheel.
That's a huge improvement on the Morris Marina that I used at the driving school way back when.

Huge improvement on most, although in Toowoomba when I was on my Ls, there was a convertible driving car with a hot young blonde girl as the instructor...she was pretty busy. These days she would have lost her advantage being by my estimates probably in her mid 40s, although maybe young guys might go for the MILF factor....assuming she still does it.

      L's what are L's?

When I got my licence you had to be 15 years and one day old to be able to sit the test and if you passed that was it you had your licence.

My parents insisted I take 3 lessons with a professional instructor to augment the paddock bashing in unregistered vehicles that had made up most of my prior driving experience.
I think from memory the instructor had a 1986 Corolla. And I don't recall him being young or blonde...

I was only meant to do a couple as well before the test came up. I just by random assignment had a nice looking young redhead in a new Laser that was about 2 yrs older than me. She kept saying one more lesson will do it, until one day I had to swap and go with an older lady who asked why I was still having lessons as I was fine to take the test. Turned out the girl I had, had a thing for me and was wasting my time and money rather than just asking me out. She did ask me out straight after I passed the test, and I had learnt enough about her from the lessons to say no thanks....She pretty much spent most of the time driving around talking about herself...

One of my driving instructors (before he moved) had a Vectra. BUT the other had a RenaultSport Clio 197. That was bloody excellent I can tell you.

Luxury!! My instructor had a Corolla and a Gemini diesel and an unhealthy obsession with wearing Pino Silvestre after shave...I still hate the smell of Pino...

I had a bog standard Yaris for manual, and a couple months later a Corolla for a refresher.

All of you guys should consider yourselves lucky!

I still think Kelloggs run that promo in some parts of the South Island you can even collect enough coupons to send away for the laminator.

I must admit that I didn't ake advantage of the rules. I was about 15 1/2 when I got my motorcycle licence and about 17 when I got a car licence.. At secondary school we had a motorcycle parking area the same way schools now have bicycle sheds. There were probably 30 or so motorbikes there on nice days. No students had cars.
