Now I understand - the leading edge may bite harder than the trailing edge - thanks

    I agree in principle
The VRS has a bigger master cylinder than the normal models - that's why its brakes currently feel over powered around town
There are numerous big brake kits designed for the Audi/Golf/Skoda platform - people that do purchase them are very happy with the performance and feel
2012.1 Skoda Octavia VRS DSG Wagon - Carbonio cold air intake and pipe - HPA Motorsports BBK 355mm rotors 6 pot calipers
APR Stage II ECU - APR 3" exhaust down pipe & high flow catalyst
APR/HP Roll bars - Eibach springs and Bilstien shocks
Supaloy lower control arms - Enkei 18*8 Wheels

The rotors are 32mm thick, two piece hat, slotted rotor face
But they are designed to fit under stock 18" wheels without a spacer - we have a winner!
(You have to remove the factory rotor dust shield however - I'm fine with that)
Apparently these save 14.5kg of unsprung weight

So stay tuned for installation and road test reports!!!

They are big brakes. I'd be very skeptical about a claimed 14.5kg weight saving though. I'd be impressed if they weigh less than the stock set up at all given the size increase.

What are the weights of the HPA caliper/disk?

Yes, have to agree, I guess the question is what was the claimed weight saving compared to?
If they were comparing to R32 brakes - maybe...

The calipers, brake pads, mounting plate and bolts weight 4.2kg (heavier than it feels)
The rotors weight 9.2kg (lighter than they look/feel)
That seems like a good weight for the rotors considering their diameter and thickness

could be right there, so they are not quoting that saving based on a mk VI / octavia?

The calipers and mounting hardware are pretty light for what they are, I'd guess that stock calipers would be more than 4.2kg each.

I think I'm the only nutter to install these brakes into an Octavia
The target audience for these brakes is people running Audi TT and R32 with HPA StageIII engine or HPA Twin Turbo gear

When you have this amazeballs setup installed, mind if I see if my 18x7.5 rims will fit around it??
If so, I'll join you with this kit.

Just need to find something to upgrade the back with...

Yes, no worries at all, it's all about spoke clearance
These are the black wheels currently on your Octavia?

Awesome! That will put 3 of us in the Octavia Big Brake team (Todd, me and you)

Given cost versus benefit, I would say keep it simple and much cheaper
I'm going to put some Ferodo DS2500 pads in the rear and see how that goes
If needed the next upgrade step after that is to install R32 rear brakes
Due to the handbrake, your options are few and far between

One guy in the USA made a dual caliper hub for the rear
He uses a big fancy caliper for braking while driving and tiny caliper on the other side for the handbrake

                    Yup!!

I was thinking just put the old Octy front disk/calipers on the rear... But I didn't realise about the handbrake!! :/

What is your OEM brake wear like?... I know my pads (upon dealer inspection) have 10mm left!!!... That was at the 60,000km service...
R32 rear brakes are blue, aren't they?... Need caliper paint!

No idea at all - my car only has 19k on it

The ceramic street pads for the HPA brakes are $129 for the set
You can get DS2500 pads for them ~$220

Indeed - hammerite to the rescue - you can also get VRS brake stickers off eBay

ECS want $790 + Shipping for the R32 Rear Brakes
