  • What was your previous ride??

So, some may think this a bit silly, but I am curious what cars we all drove before coming over to an Octavia.

We sometimes mention our previous cars in our posts, so it would be fun to know (and see pics) of one or two of our favourite cars we have owned in the past...not all...just one that we really loved...

Anyone want to start us off?? a pic would be great.

i had a holden astra 2005 5-door liftback (a reason why i got the octavia liftback).
didn't touch the engine. did lost of handling mods & a geniune rieger bodykit imported from germany.
had it for 6 years before selling it privately.

as u can c - its a big contrast with regards to the color choice of what i drive now!!!

I used to have aircooled VWs. They were both red, easy to fix (though adjusting the valves and changing the oil every 1500 miles got a bit boring after a few years) and fun to drive! 1972 Karmann Ghia (when I lived in the USA) and then a 1970 Notchback after I returned to AUS. These aren't mine, but similar:

Well can't really go past the 1966 Morris J4 van. Paid $800 sold it for $850 (after putting a new engine from a wrecker in for about $100) and drove maybe 30,000 miles in it.
          Why was it fun?
It was the early 1970s, it was a van, I could put my motorcycles it in and when they weren't I had a girlfriend who probably took this photo. You work it out.

Next most fun. 1973 HQ Belmont. 185 cu inch, 3 on the tree. Brought at 66,000km sold to my little brother at about 110,000 he sold it with 250,000km on it. Other than maintenance virtually zero spent and most of it's life it had bike trailers on the back. How could that not be a fun car (still had girlfriends and it had a bench front seat)

previous - xr5. Awesome to drive, best sounding car I've had. Put a smile on my face everytime I drove it up until the day I sold it.

Before that - R33 gtst. The most fun car I've had, can't beat rwd if you want a proper sports car feel.

The octavia is good, gets much better fuel economy than both of my previous cars and fits more stuff in. Not the most exciting to drive, but more of a sensible choice. Must be getting old!

GenIV Outback, and GolfIV before that. So the Scout was a bit of a VAG homecoming.

OK I'm not an Octavia owner but I've now met a lot of you and I post here enough! My Polo is my third car.

First was a 1999 Toyota Corolla, bought it off my mum for a sweet price in 2006... Too broke for mods in those days.

Then I got a company car so I wasn't allowed to put mods on it because it wasn't my car... 2008 Commodore Omega sportswagon. The last pic is with my girlfriends current car too.

                And now it's the Polo!

There are some great replys guys! Nice to see!

I have had three Daihatsu Sirion GTVi's that I have fond memories of. They were great little pocket rockets that suprised many people I left at the lights!
Did a few mods on all, esp suspension and wheels etc...stereos...

Still see two of them on the road today! One is owned by a friend of ours who loves it!
One died at the hands of a truck...

Also have good memories of my Tiguan "GTI" (haha)

So many other cars througout life...some really nice...too many to list...but here are a few pics....

I had a 2.0 Golf Cabrio Mk3.5 before the Skoda. I actually bought it for the wife when she had to give back her company car for a year (went to academia as a job-swap) but I liked it so much I kept it for myself when she went corporate again.

Before that was a Subaru Liberty RX Gen 2 - among the most disapointing cars I've owned. Very gutless. Very thirsty.

Nissan Bluebird U13 before that. One of the best cars I've had.
