There's a big difference in price between a 60K on a TSI DSG and a 60K on a TDI manual.

As for configurations, I think I can see why the TDI costs just that little bit more initially

the 60k includes a DSG service, hence the hefty price tag.
i'm 10,000kms shy of that mark - i'll start crying then!!

so had my 32k service done for 520..... what type of oil are they suppose to us? 5-w40? my car doesnt goes as hard as it use to now for some odd reason.

generally they use VW 504.00/507.00. VW doesn't specify a viscosity but they are all 5w-30. If you have a petrol motor then 502.00 is acceptable. Viscosity varies for 502.00 but a dealer would most likely use 5w-30.

It could be that your old oil had lost some viscosity & therefore the new stuff is a bit sluggish (oil has to be broken-in too) but more likely they reset the ECU back to default settings & the ECU/TCU has to relearn.

Subaru's used to feel less responsive after a service because there were air bubbles in the smaller galleries & these would transmit a false "detonation" to the knock sensors which would wind back timing & richen the mixture. It would often take ~500km for the settings to go back to optimum.

I got quoted $630 by trivett skoda parramatta today for the 30k service on a petrol octavia RS with dsg. That seems crazy to me. The only difference I can see from the 15k service is pollen filter and brake fluid. Surely that's a tad expensive. Should I try and negotiate with them?

30k is a "major" so seems about on par.

I'm due for my 30k too although I've got a 90tsi dsg. I'll update when I get pricing as it might help the few of us with the lil engines.

What year is your RS, I can check if there were any sw. updates. If not then it's one less reason to take it to the dealer.

Mate any chance you could do that for me, I'm due for my 60k and am tossing up between a specialist and a dealer. It's a 10 built MY11 TSI vRS 6M.

That's $185 more for the same service that I paid for at Rockdale. I had the brake fluid changed, but had already done my own pollen filter change (About $25 for the filter and 5 minutes of my time).

Camden GTI are actually at Cambelltown. OK if you're out that way, or near the M5. They have loan cars too. As I've said Rockdale treated me well, and were well priced.

Since the 30K we've taken Mrs BS's Golf VI to an independent, Wolfsburg Motor Engineers at St Peters. I like to have a rapport with the tradespeople I use. They know what I expect, and I know how they work. Jan, and his crew, are good techs. Old school. Having noted how they looked after the Golf I took my Skoda there for the 45K service. No loan cars, no frills, but they did it for $195.

Ask Trivett what they do for the money. Last time I had a quote from them the price included the loan car, tyre rotation, etc.
