It has.. but I haven't had a coffee yet.

I assume hub centric rings required for the Enkeis mean they aren't 57.1mm.. also assume this isn't a big issue then?

Also some issues in trying to get a VW logo fit on these - the GTCs (or VMRs) apparently swap in the cap directly. Just wish they'd do them in 8 wide!

Note: according to various forums including a thread in the Tiguan section on here last year the GTCs are re-branded VMRs, same factory etc. so probably explains why 8.5 is the starting point)

Sadly still cannot make up my mind between lowering with stock wheels, or unlowered with new wheels. I've done a comparison shot of my two choices, albeit on white 3 doors only.

8.5x45et will b fine, im about to fit some 18x8.5 et42 which from what I've read is as much offset as u can run and maintain normal camber and no guard humping, apparently u can fit up to 9.5 et45 on the back! I've gone for klutch republik sl14 check em for something different
Wonder how close the Octavias are to the GTIs in relation to above.. for every post I find that says 225/40 et45 on 8.5 won't rub there is a post that says it will (in relation to GTIs). Sounds like it is fine on stock suspension, just an issue if I went lower at a future point.

Those Klutch's are old school.. that will be a very diff look!

The Enkei's are not 57.1 - no big issue using hub centric rings

The hole for the wheel cap is something like 72mm and there aren't many options for caps
I'll just run the Enkei caps that came with the wheels and sort that out later

            • So I picked up my Enkei wheels from Magman and the paint job is really awesome, can't Wait to get them on the car!

Magman confirmed that the Enkei paint was pretty soft, it rubbed down very easily

              Photos next week

              • can't wait to see the new wheels Martin. I haven't been that active on the forum lately but always keen to see new wheel combos!

dutch77 - i'd go wheels first, then suspension to suit. love the vmrs!

Martin: yes I am keen to see the new wheels as well.

cbay: it may end up that way.. I do love the VMRs, but seems like there might be some fitments issues on the GTIs (certainly without mucking around anyway which I don't want to be bothered with - obviously there a lot more aggressive fitments going around, but they all involve more work).

I kinda moved my commentary over to the wheels/suspension thread which is where the VMR fitment issue cropped up.. plus I felt guilty clogging up an Octavia thread with GTI pics and specs!

Per the other thread, I think I am looking at BBS CH in black (with the polished lip), the OZ Superturismo LM in graphite, the OZ Ultraleggera in black, or maybe the TSW Nurburgring in black (very similar to VMR 710s, same specs as Martin's Enkeis which I suppose I should have on this list as well). And yes I realise I have coverered a 100% price increase in this range of wheels.. I am a little flexible for the 'right' wheel.

BBS CH's look sick, my brother has them on his MKV GTI (without the lip).

                    • That's working well.. I've seen people remove the lip, not sure whether I would or not. I like how it gives the black wheel some definition, although from further away it can give it a 'whitewall' appearance (well sort of). They look to be 19s? I'm worried in 18 they get a bit too chunky.. but can't justify the move to 19s (cost, ride, arguably lower performance).

                        They're 18x8, can't remember the offset though. i'm assuming 45.

The 18 x 8 CH are actually ET 50.. which equates to 5mm less inner; 7mm more on the outer.. which is why there should be no issues in chucking them on.

They look good on that car.. and really starting to get keen on a set. Still don't know how the lip would look on a red car (I think it suits black cars), very few pics around of red Golfs with them on in black - although I am probably worrying about nothing and I am sure they will look the goods.

Of course the dollars are now much bigger tho.
