I've been a member for nearly 20 yrs but 5yrs back racv burned us badly so I moved all cars away from them. Despite them having rating1 for life they explained it as something else a claim affects that isn't NBC or part of the rating.

We had no history of accidents EVER and a friend reversed into our parked car. We arranged all repairs and he claimed full responsibility and put it through his insurer AAMI we notified RACV about it and they rewarded us with increasing the premium next time around substantially.

13 claims in 15 years none at fault. Still rating 1, premiums are $470 for 06 Jetta, $700odd for the 01 GTI modified.
      MK4 GTI - Sold
      MK5 Jetta Turbo - Sold
      MK5 Jetta 2.Slow - Until it dies.

Might just be a coincidence - seems hard to believe that could affect your premium but I suppose strange things do happen in big organisations. I've moved insurers because of massive hikes for no good reason - I've NEVER had an claim either way and the car has clearly depreciated (unless an Xtrail or Octavia is now a collectors item ). I'm sure its because the car is more of a riskier than it was last year, the area I live in went down hill or my house is in the potential path of more thunderstorms or something tangible. I can't be arsed asking why, jumped on the Internet and got a better deal both times.

I'm waiting delivery of a Yeti which should be here next Jan/Feb. I bought it from Nowra because I was not happy with the knowledge of the sales guys here in Canberra so I doubt there service staff would be much better.

Was told by my vw dealer at 45000k service they would only rotate if required which after servicing said it wasn't required.
So todate the jetta has 70000k's and still looks like may get close to 100,000, psi running at 40

As it appears the dealer admitted responsibility, her insurer will claim the money back off their insurer and shouldnt affect her premium.

The dealer would have to pay the amount of excess.

Thats the way it usually works and only comes unstuck if the other party doesnt play fair.

They were still there 27 December. They dont seem to be keeping any stock. Just a demo vehicle of each model for test drives. All the Skodas are in the middle of the VW yard.

                Happy Days.

I prefer actual service without wheel damage and/or sandpapered paintwork so I go to an independent VAG specialist (thankfully spoilt for choice here in Melb)

If you have unidirectional tyres, NEVER rotate them side to side, only front to rear.

A friend had the experience at a VW dealer of side to side rotation, which set up such a noise that he thought the wheel bearings were shot!

The dealer comment - "Oh, it'll wear off in several thousand kilometres"

Do the cross rotate more often & the high spots aren't as bad & wont make the noise. Leave them rotating in the same direction & the saw-toouthing will get to a point where the tyre rumbles incessantly & has to be thrown away long before it is worn out.

Unidirectional or directional tyres (i.e. tyres designed to rotate in one direction) shouldn't be rotated side to side (unless the tyres are dismounted on the current wheel and remounted on the other wheel - which no one is ever bothered to do, as you'd have to rebalance them).

Otherwise, the tyre will rotate in the opposite direction, which increases the risk of aquaplaning, since the tread pattern will not disperse water properly or as intended.

I suppose it's not inconceivable that unusual noise patterns might be generated if the tread isn't rotating in the proper direction (in addition to the effects of not rotating the tyres frequently enough).

I assume the technician/mechanic/apprentice/whoever didn't notice the marking on the tyre sidewall that indicated the direction of rotation.
