Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Combine that with an appropriate Facebook page with thousands of supporters all bitching and VW would back pedal faster than a federal politician after an election.
It can't be a safety issue. The speed limit signs on the roadside are the only ones that matter when it comes down to it. They show the authorised posted limit. Legally, whatever a GPS says is of no signifigance to a speed camera. zei20t has the solution, turn the speed limit function off. In car GPS units are the same as radar in a boat. They are an aid to navigate only, and shouldn't be relied upon as the sole method by which to navigate. Ultimately, the driver or skipper is responsible for the safe operation of a vehicle or vessel in accordance with the applicable regulations, whether they have GPS/radar, or not.
Anyhow, joele didn't get it in writing, so it's now "Wait and see".

The point I was making that given the inevitable response if they charge VW won't even try to. Even if one person has something in writing now it is unlikely that an email from a lowly support person would firstly constitute any sort of legal obligation on VW and secondly even concern them if one person got upset later on.

Maybe not and one or two streets here and there being wrong is perfectly fine and expected, however every single fwy and hwy in the whole country being obviously wrong is 'not working as designed' and good luck to them if they would try and charge their customers to fix that. With recent strengthening of consumer protection laws I don't see them trying to pull that here, though they could choose to just give free updates to those that complain, the rest can pay for it or pirate it I guess...
EDIT: I meant to add that new release VW maps are no cheaper than the previous versions, but Sensis doesn't do each version from scratch. The "new" versions are merely updated versions.Last edited by BottomScratcher; 17-11-2012, 03:31 PM.
