Skoda reported increase 101.8% y/y in June 2012. That would make it about 440 vehicles sold June 2012. Low base but as long as they grow there is not much to complain about.

According to Car Advice ( CarAdvice | Resource for Car Reviews, News, Advice, Road Tests, Green Cars, Hybrids) Skoda did 445 in June and 1898 for the first 6 months of 2012. Not too bad so far. They will have a wider range of vehicles to sell for the rest of the year so should be aiming for 4,500 for the year I reckon.Skoda Superb Combi Elegance 118 TSI Black with Black Leather, Fiscon Bluetooth, MDI, Tinting from B Pillar

Superb and Octavia remain great value, except medium car and large cars are just not the flavor at the moment. The only hope lies with Yeti 118TSI.
I think sales will improve, but not by much. I don't even think it will reach the 600/month mark like last Dec, which the figure was inflated by dealer's registering demos.

These are all V6s so drink fuel like crazy, yet you get about the same performance with the 125TDI (we are talking about practical performance, ie torque, not peak power and top speed >200kpm, we don't need it)
Euro competitors such as Peugeot and Renault may be similar in price and equipment, but we all know how reliable French car can be. (although Renault is actually Korean.)
I wouldn't even consider i45 and optima to be a competitor. Korean cars aren't luxury cars, and they handle like sh*t.
This really leaves Superb's own brother, Passat, to be the only serious competitor. But as we have already compared in another thread, to get the exact equipment level as Superb, you need to spent serious money on Passat. At the end of the day, it's personal preference. Passat is one of the best value for money buy out there, so that still makes Superb a good value.
Of course I'm just talking about the Elegance level. For Ambition, I agree it is probably $2000 over priced. At least leather should be standard, like the baseline Passat 118TSI. But I think VW Aus is purposely doing that so the Superb will not hurt Passat's sale as in Europe.
For the same price, I think RS is much better value. At least u get leather/alcantara and GPS, and a better TSI engine.Last edited by VAG newbie; 09-07-2012, 09:14 AM.

Based purely on RRP the Passat 118TSI looks to be so much better value as you mentioned. The Ambition 103TDI deal at $35,990 drive away (which gives you room to add options in) is great however, they really should keep it there!

Skoda reported first half a year sales at 493,000 (8.5% y/y). This is a fairly good results considering European car market sucking so much.
-compared with first half of 2011
ŠKODA Octavia 219 600 +9,7 %
ŠKODA Fabia 133 600 -3,2 %
ŠKODA Superb 56 900 -10,3 %
ŠKODA Yeti 45 100 +28,6 %
ŠKODA Roomster 20 400 +13,1 %
ŠKODA Rapid 11 800 (sold in India only)
ŠKODA Citigo 5 500 (new model launched in Europe only so far)
Considering that for example Peugeot is closing factories and letting people go due to European slowdown, Skoda is doing rather well on a global scale.

July and August VFACTS
Skoda moved 331 (July 2012) and 412 units (August 2012) , y/y growth is 85% (1418 to 2636) so far. Thats pretty good. Still easily outsold by other Euros like Renault, Pug and Volvo. However, they only posted modest increases or even loss in sales (Peugeot).
