As I understand it, you need to take the wiper stalk out of off/home/position 0 for the wipers to sweep, even if fitted with a rain sensor.

The owner's manual makes it quite clear in what happens if you drive off (i.e. speed greater than 4 km/h) while the wipers are in the service position.
It's stupid, but that's how the function has been programmed, and so you shall obide by its principles.
Actually, it wouldn't surprise me it was a requirement of a European directive/statue/law.

I've found that the wipers move from the service position after you've travelled either 50m in a forwards direction, or over 5km/h in a forwards direction.
If there is water on the automatic wiper sensor when you turn the ignition on, it will not trigger the sensor.
You need to switch the wiper stalk back to 0 (Off) from A (Auto), and then back to A (Auto).
Then the automatic wipers will be reset and remain activated until you next turn the ignition on with water already on the windscreen.Last edited by Mysticality; 07-05-2012, 10:48 PM.2012 Octavia vRS TDI. Darkside big turbo, 3bar tune, other stuff. 200kW/650Nm.

Sorry, yet another brain-fart on my account. I was thinking of the rain sensor activated windows.
BTW: My youngest child reports that the anti-crush setting when puting the windows up works really well. LOLcarandimage The place where Off-Topic is On-Topic

sometimes too much. if i open the windows using the remote, then relock it without opening any of the doors, the windows will automatically close after a set time!! sux when u feelin too lazy to go out & physically do it.MY17 Superb 162TSI, Business Grey, Tech+Comfort Pack, APR ECU+TCU Stg 1, SLA, Rieger Splitter + Side Skirts, Eibach Pro-Kit Springs, Hardrace Swaybar, TPMS

I've had a windscreen on order through the Skoda dealer that so far has taken about a month and still no sign. How did you get one so quickly?2008 Skoda Octavia Elegance TDI 4x4 wagon

Might add a few days if it comes from Sydney, but I reckon it's more down to the dealer not chasing it up.2008 Skoda Octavia Elegance TDI 4x4 wagon

Finally got my windscreen - took 3 sodding months! $400 for the screen (it has the rain sensor mask) plus fitting. They gave me some bs about some screens delaminating so they were held up.2008 Skoda Octavia Elegance TDI 4x4 wagon
