Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

  • satnav trim

    Hi all,
Going to replace my Bolero with Columbus/RNS510 equivalent (yes a chinese one). Need some help on the trim though as the Bolero trim is different to the Columbus one.

    The genuine part number I need is 1Z0 858 069 DK DF1.

As Skoda want $170 for the trim, I thought I might try superskoda. The only problem is they have 2 listed, 1 brushed aluminum and 1 brushed steel and dont' say which one is more like the original.

Can anyone help with which one is the right one?
    Thanks,
    Cameron

From ETKA, the DF1 at the end is the color code for "Light tonal brushed", I'd suggest checking the part number for the current/stock part and see if it has the same code on it just to be sure you are looking at the right part to begin with.

As for the Skoda face plates... there is about 50 different options depending on exactly what year/model/radio/facia finish you have/want.

Hell, there are three different design control panels:

I did a Columbus unit into an Octavia earlier this year and even sourcing the part from Skoda took a few attempts before the right part was supplied.

If it has an engine or heartbeat it's going to cost you.

Wow thanks for the quick reply.
I took the current part off (for Borlero) and there is no part number on it, just dates and times of moulding etc.
I think I found the right one from superskoda, as mine is an RS, and they only have one that refers to matching RS.. the pics look like the right one too.
$100AUD delivered is still better than $170 from the dealer.
      THanks again

It should have a part number on it if it's a factory part. They should all start with 1Z0 858 069

I'd hazzard a guess your original part is 1Z0 858 069 DG DF1 if the part number you had before is correct.

For reference, this is a photo of the stock facia out of the Octavia I did, while you can't quite make it out in the photo the part number is on the sticker. In this case it was 1Z0 858 069 BD 2AU
Which was "trim for switch for vehicles with manually regulated air conditioner - finely turned aluminium >> 06.11.2011"

The placement part was: 1Z0 858 069 BH 2AU (in case anyone is interested)

I don't understand why the Skoda system is so complicated for this part, Golf for example have 1 part in two colours, not 25 different variants.

There are multiple different parts because there are different radios and climate control systems.

For example, I have the climatronic so I have fascia #11.
The lower models don't have the Climatronic, so only have the dials in the fascia.
Its a common thing for different models.

Pre-FL Octy's have dials, too. They have climate control, but the temp reading is in the centre of the temp dials. etc.

AFAIK all the FL vRS models have climatronic so they would be #11.

Actually, that is the VW system. It's just that VW don't bring that many variations to Australia. Excluding the Plus and Wagon, UK has around 52 Golf models for sale. Octavia, also excluding the Wagon has 40 models! So, it's always possible, that for 1 section, there can be more than 2 variants, and sometimes, you might get 25 of them

All FL vRS have Climatronic, and thus, have the square hole in the middle of the fascia.

ALL RS sold here are climatronic, just the pre FL has individual LCD panels above the temp control knobs. I was just wondering two things, whether you might want to sell the Bolero, and whether it would have te correct fascia for the pre facelift RS and what exactly would and wouldn't work....the Columbus works fine as it was an option, but maybe the Bolero was in other countries?
