  • ECU tune options for Skoda Octavia VRS

    Hi All

Thinking of my first mod for my new Candy White VRS and got an email from APR for their easter sale

APR - High Performance Development for Audi, VW Porsche and Skoda Vehicles.

It got me thinking and looks very tempting.

In the interests of fairness though their must be other options when it comes to ECU remaps/tunes

Can anybody recommend any other providers or is APR the only way to go??

For example this one in the UK is cheap compared to the offers here Skoda Remap - Petrol & Diesel Engine ECU Remapping & Chip Tuning. Whilst I know I cant go to the UK it does highlight price differences and I am assuming APR with its slick marketing might be on the high side

Only thing though is that I need to be able to go back to stock ECU if required.

    Any options ??????????????

there r a number of other options out there such as Revo, Viezu, Giac, Kraftwerk (RamSpeed) - just to name a few.
just make sure u get one that is specifically for the TSI engine - not the TFSI engine.
.....presuming u have a facelift RS.

one day...i'll have mine tuned aswell....one day.

No tuner, even a bad one would try to load the wrong software into an ECU. I wouldn't work..... I don't know of anyone that doesn't reference the ECU and softcoding numbers when creating the software.

Please have look at Custom-Code as well, even though we don't yet give the ability to return to standard.

Have a chat to Arthur at Exoticars. He can sort you out with a GIAC tune and flashloader.

I purchased a Bluefin from a user on here last week, very happy with the results. Not the most aggressive tune out of all of the brands, but good value for the small amount of money.

Depends largely on your budget and the importance to be able to return the car to stock if wanted / needed.

Personally i wanted a tune that was under $1,000 with the ability to return the car to stock myself (as their are no ECU dealers here in Newcastle) incase of a warranty issue etc.

I initially had a Bluefin tune, nothing wrong with it at all, but i ended up wanting something a little more customisable for some future mods i would like to do.

After recently selling my Bluefin to another member on here, i was weighing up between Viezu and DNA Tuning. I ended up choosing DNA Tuning because of some good feedback, some good dyno results, good value for money and the ability to return the car to stock myself via a hand controller.

It has happened - one of the tuners load the DSG map onto a manual IIRC.

to the OP: I've got a Bluefin on mine because it was the best value cheap & cheerful tune out there in 2009. If I was doing it now I'd probably go with DNA or somebody else that was <$1k & convenient to home.

I don't need all the bells & whistles that a ~$1500 tune comes with.

Yes they do. Check here >>

Bluefin engine remapping uses an ECU remap for your diesel or petrol engine and delivers better performance. Engine tuning with ECU chipping for diesel and petrol engines.

I assume your vRS is the 125kw version?

There are numerous handheld units available now to enable you to revert to stock , however be aware of antitune ecus.
The new vrs tdi runs anti tune and as such cannot be flash written from stock with a handheld. Needs to be bench flashed.
We can offer a range of tunes for you and having had boththe tdi and petrol vrs i am happy to answer any questions you may have.
We have NSW dealers as well for you .

No choice but to have it done at a workshop.
