Went and sat in a Mk6 GTI to test out the seats, they are definitely more comfortable but unfortunately there is still an issue with the head rest....

Your right golf GTI AND R seats are not as firm , maybe thats what iam missing the extra firmness of the RS , i certainly get lower back soreness after an hour or so .

Do drivers actually rest their heads on the restraints while driving? I must say I cannot actually recall seeing any drivers with their heads on the head restraints while piloting the vehicle.

only use it if i ever needed to take a nap in the car

I find that I do a fair bit but I like to have a very upright seating position....

I don't but often wonder whether it leads to neck problems not resting it. But then again slouching and resting sometimes cause the issues.

Guessing you might use them in the event of a crash.

one option on the R at least is to swap the front and rear headrests ..

hey dru if you're still around .. fyi after a few days of driving the Octy I had a short drive in the R and wow, it's definitely not just the engine that's better - the contrast between all aspects of the seats is like night and day. Recaros for the Octy are looking good

My wife has the latest model Subaru Outback. The headrest have the same extreme forward incline that the Octavia RS appears to have adopted. I like to sit quite upright in a seat as that was how I was taught to sit when I started racing. If I do this in the Outback then me head is pushed forward & I get a sore neck & back. I've tried raising the headrest as high as possible & tilting the backrest a bit more but it still isn't a comfortable seat for long drives.

I run another forum that is/was Subaru based. One of the guys on there couldn't stand the tilt-forward headrest any longer & had a motor trimmer modify them with great success. I believe the cost was <$500 for 2 headrests
