I'm starting to think that I should just powder coat the neptunes, I don't want to upgrade rims unless I go 19's

There is always the Oettinger rims

    19x8.5 ET50

    Downside = $500 per rim

Rim shopping is god damn frustrating! lol

exactly my plans - powdercoat my neptunes gunmetal grey......and drop it 30mm or so
oh, and 12mm spacers on the rear.

      i'd luv 19s, but.......

19's just look so damn good though...maybe convince the missus to let me tune 'her' car instead of the rims lol

Dru, so is there any 19 x 8 ET56 that are in a design you like?? an 8inch rim will take a 235 nicely

The 19 x 8.5 ET45 actually pushes the rim out by 2cm, that's a big difference and I can see why people are having scrubbing issues

people can put more -ve camber on to tilt the top of the rim in, but then your just going to wear out the inner edge out quicker and unless you're doing hard cornering on a track, you can actually reduce traction as the whole tyre may not be contacting the road ( maybe slightly over exagerated but hopefully you get the idea)

Don't mind the 3rd pic but I can't find any rims within those specs really, i'll keep looking though. Thanks for your help.

I was under the impression that even if you changed the width of the rim, your still running a 235 width tyre which will scrub? Or am I missing something?

The offset of the rim is what positions the tyre, going from a 225 to a 235 shouldn't make much of a difference, but the offset does. You need to keep the wheel track within certain limits form the original to be legal also. So getting the offset right is a tricky thing.

I haven't started looking myself, but I might start researching and see what i come up with.......

I would vote for getting the Neptune's powder-coated!!!

My main reason is that I'm toying with the idea of getting the Themisto's on Superb powder-coated instead of buying a set of Luxon's. I don't mind the silver but I love black. ooooooo black Luxon's now there is an idea lol.

So ve dub, you I assume you didn't scrub at all even fully loaded prior to lowering? Reason I ask is because I REALLY want to go the 19's and not sure if I want to lower the car and if the 19's look like they fill up the arches more (giving a perceived lowered look), then I probably won't lower it any time soon. I quite like the fact that I currently don't have to worry about scraping the front end going up driveways etc (unlike my previous polo gti). Plus its friggin hard and frustrating finding the right style rims at the right price in an offset between 48-50 coupled with a width of 8 in 5x112. *Sigh* Why doe sit have to be this hard?

                      Thanks.

Damn...was looking on briskoda.net and saw the majority of modded vrs' had 19" wheels and lowered like crazy. Wonder if those dudes scrub bad? Maybe they don't corner hard or load up their cars?

Can't comment on that as I lowered the car on springs before I got the wheels.

Oh bugger. Thanks for your reply anyways. Just wondering what you did exactly to the arches to reduce scrubbing? Have you done the negative camber yet?

I was hoping also, without lowering the skoda that there might be some chance of clearance!
