After fitting mine I noticed a small gain in power, longer turbo spool time and best of all, the sound as it spools and dumps is awesome.
    Well worth the money.

BTW, I do have it coupled with an adaptive tune, but I doubt you'd get much of a gain if fitted without.

    THEN: MY10 Black Magic RS

Did you get both stage 1 and 2 or just stage 1?

APR America appear to have 10% off atm - so USD269.10 + USD179.10 + freight (assuming you use one of those US based collect & ship intermediaries) - still not a lot of difference between APRAU & APRUS

edit: Oh wait - I thought APRAU was $600 for the lot, not $950. my bad

Have you got your heart set on the Carbonio? You spiked my interest & I did some reading. It appears the Forge Twintake might deliver more HP if that's what you're chasing. Carbonio is a beautiful thing to look at though.

I have previously considered the forge one but they had no clue whether it will fit the same (mounting points etc) as the golf but bloody expensive though.
Also considering the BSH truseal intake kit. The cheapest of them all and I can get my hands on it by early next week from dubaddiction.

I had a look at the forge intake but it looks like an ugly setup, to me anyway. I know it's in the engine bay but it's just untidy. BSH I saw a second hand one on here for sale last week Dave, maybe look for that - but I can't remember if it was suited to a mk6 or mk5 golf.

There are a few out there. I quite like the VF Engineering one (below). The piping is all one piece but the only downside is apparently it doesn't seal against the bonnet well and draws in hot air?

Then again, that is similar to the BSH TSI Intake

The BSH "box" is a much better attempt to seal the unit than the VF. Whilst the VF does seal to the bonnet, both sides and the bottom are open! Both are obviously far inferior in their sealing than the Carbonio.

The difference between a totally sealed to the exterior airbox, and a small 1cm gap is quite noticable, especially after idling at the lights for 2 mins. Any gaps that let in hot engine bay air are going to dull the initial response quite noticably. I had a phenoic modshack pod, closed off at the front except for the exact hole from the outside, but still had small 1cm or less gaps. When I built a fully enclosed and sealed front on the modshack, the response, especially in traffic was amazing.

In my opinion ANY box that doesn't totally seal to the exterior is going to be WORSE than stock in traffic.

Yeah, and beyond the "performance" discussion, there is also the legal/roadworthy discussion. It's ok to "seal against the bonnet", but intakes like the VF obviously make no attempt to even seal to the sides and bottom to anything. It'd rather pay an additional $100 over it's current price for them to have a variety of airboxes for the different models.

Unfortunately when it comes to Golf's, that pretty much just leaves APR/Carbonio - and they don't have a "full intake" for the Golf R yet
