  • Ok I got one of the clips that fell out !!! How hard do I need to yank the tailgate cover to get the sucker off ?! There's only two nuts and they are off!!!

    • yeah....u need to yank the tailgate cover upwards to get em off.
      don't forget to remove the shopping hook/hanger on the left side.
      there's another screw under the plastic trim next to where the parcel shelf hinges onto.

      that's it - its a matter of prying it out, gently, to get all the boot carpet off.

      • Thanks for the tips guys ... worked out alright and managed to get out the clips that fell into the back cavity.

        I'll add a few pics just to assist those with a liftback Mk2 VRS FL, which looks ever so slightly different from the MK1

        Note position of the clips on the tailgate - push UPWARDS to get the trim off the tailgate.

        I also came across a Octavia Mk2 workshop manual - look under body | trim noise insulations | luggage compartment trim panels .. and so on.

        Yes it was a COLD start .. that's ice on the windscreen .....
