I know of a guy who picked one up recently from Rick Damelian Skoda, brand new Dec 2010-complied RS liftback, manual, was advertised for $35k driveaway, there are definitely RS's out there going for between $35-$38k driveaway so long as you accept the colour, trim specs etc... most seem to be liftbacks, I doubt many are optioned up at all... but I reckon I could definitely shave a thou or two off what I paid 12 months ago for my DSG wagon!

I popped into Brisbane Prestige today, and they had a MY 2010 liftback RS that was ticketed at $38500. (Would include photo here if attachments were available).

Has anyone got the Xenon with dynamic angle control? If so how much was it listed as an option?

What is the standard RS headlamp setup? Is it LED DRL with a combination of HID and halogens or are low and high beam both halogens? The brochure doesn't indicate what the setup is and I'm not familiar enough with all the RS features to know.
Don't want to pay for an option that is unnecessary.

        Thanks

Its Halogen with the LED DRL unless you spec it with the Xenons. From memory its only single Xenons not both even as an option.

as woofy mentioned, the xenons r only for the low beam, if optioned. u still get the halogen for high beam on the rs.
the non rs octavias r the same.

in terms of price....this was 1 yr ago.

Thanks for that information, appreciate it!
Its unfortunate that dual HIDs aren't an option as I think they are a pretty good feature that is available across most upper-specced Euro marques.
Only a minor blemish on an otherwise impressive feature list though.

The standard projector beams are very, very good - so good I doubt the xenons are worth it to be honest. They look great yep but if you're trying to save a penny then don't worry about them. I'd like to add that Octavia projector beam headlights are better than Golf/A3 halogen lights too.

Ah cool, another useful bit of information. Yeah projectors are definately a better setup than reflectors. Can always upgrade the stock globes to something like Philips Blue Vision Ultra or Xtreme Power to make the most of them.

there's a world of a difference between xenons and standard halogen.
if u hardly drive at night, then u wouldn't know the difference. not worth it.
at night however, the illumination is by far more superior.....hands down. scientifically and looks-wise

and that's not even mentioning dynamic (bending) xenons, or afs xenons, or bi-xenons with afs.......crikey!!!

Have you seen the standard Octavia beam at night because I reckon it's pretty bloody good - xenons would have to be the best in the world to improve on them!

yup, but now ur talking about the projector beam pattern, and if that's the case yes, the octavia has a very good beam pattern, regardless of the projector housing a halogen or xenon bulb.
wat i'm saying is that there's a world of difference in "illumination" between halogen & xenons globes. not talking about the brightness. not talking about the beam pattern.

the octavia projector beams r well designed, better than a majority of other manufacturers. even the pre-facelift octavias have an awesome (and useful) spread of light.

My girlfriend's 90TSI Octavia's halogen lights are very good for standard halogens (compared to some other new vehicles out there), but when she gets into my RS with the Xenons even she says "I wish my Skoda had these lights."
You can't really compare the two. Xenons are MUCH brighter & provide a more natural light at night with less eye strain in my opinion - especially in bad weather conditions. Not to mention the auto height adjustment & cornering function, which is a fantastic feature.
Definitely worth the money in my opinion.
