Is it available for the Skoda? I was going to get rid of it and buy a wagon but my needs have changed lately so I might stick with it for a while.

Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled
After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.
Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before.
We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Extended Warranty

Hi Ozsko, I have a Octavia wagon 2.0 TDI, have had for 3 wks, Skoda tell me that just so long as they inspect the vehicle every year, that you can purchase and extend the factory warranty at any time before the end of the 3 rd year. I was also thinking of extending my warranty. They don't seem too concerned where it is serviced either, in BNE a 15k service is $390 at Skoda.
Hope this helps

The 4 yr factory extended warranty ( no limit of claim) from Skoda was about $2500 if memory serves me correctly and the other warranty offered was a limited claim per item offer I think was about $1800. Not overly cheap, but maybe of some assistance and peace of mind...
These prices are in BNE, don't know if other states are any cheaper.
15k service from German Autos $305, whom I've used before.

I think I'd pay $160 a year or thereabouts for RACV Total care and more than cover the towing and accommodation and rental side of things then put the rest of the money in the bank and self insure. What you seem to be doing is betting whether there is a major engine or gearbox failure during the extended warranty period and if I had to take that bet I'd want to be on VW's side.
