When I sold the intake to a friend, he dyno'ed his car and there was a reduction in overall power. It is easily installed, although a couple of the screws kept on coming loose (until I loctite'd it)

(Bought from Broomfish, and depending on whether you get on their order cycle, it can take up to 3 months to arrive. Simota in Aus didn't stock it at the time and would not import it but that was over 3 years ago)
    Thanks Dodgy,
There is one at A1 in Melbourne for $250 plus shipping...
In the UK there are a heap of CAI kits around but all seem to be open pods which are sort of illegal here in oz (from what i have been told).

Yeah it was very cheap compared to all the other intakes out there. They had another, but it was an open pod, which was supposedly very good. I really liked it when I had it, especially in the MkV, I didn't have to try to pull the engine cover off to change or clean the filter. A touch louder thans tock but not as loud as some of the other legal closed pod options (eg. EVOMS), and the filter was very easy to clean. It had a whistling noise around 4k rpms.

I had thought about heat wrapping the rubber bits, as it did get quite hot being in the engine bay, but never got around to it, before I sold it. (Sold the GTI soon after)

In NSW, open pods are illegal. Not sure about other states.

Let us know how it goes on the RS

The APR CAI system is a closed pod system and uses the OEM ram air trumpet as it's already a good position for high pressure airflow
APR Transverse 2.0 TDI Carbon Fiber Cold Air Intake System

as is the new K&N 57S CAI
