Looks to be the same as the Tiguan which shares the engine of the Mk6 GTI.

So does this mean our engine is the same as the Mk6? For some reason, I always thought it was Mk5.

Let us know how the Simota Kit goes andymarc!

Same as Mk.6, it has a chain not a belt. Pst. I think it has the full 155 kw too, but dont tell anyone cause its not a GTI.

I think your onto something mate, as my manual vRS was always = With Gti's and quicker than Jettas with similar or same running gear.. As for the V6 Superb, I've lineballed a 0-100 with a workmate in his R36.. And with dsg it's really not driver capabilities at work other than response time.
I think the figures are a wee dubious.

VwAG can't have the octavia vRS having more power than their "bread & butter" golf gti!!!
so they had to detune the version we get

They aren't detuned, they just say on the official spec that they are still 147, the fact that the engine even changed has never been officially mentioned really.

To me the intake setup looks quite similar...

I had the Simota kit for the MkV GTI.

It doesn't really increase the power because the flow is a bit restrictive, but the low speed accelleration is similar to stock.

When I sold the intake to a friend, he dyno'ed his car and there was a reduction in overall power. It is easily installed, although a couple of the screws kept on coming loose (until I loctite'd it)

(Bought from Broomfish, and depending on whether you get on their order cycle, it can take up to 3 months to arrive. Simota in Aus didn't stock it at the time and would not import it but that was over 3 years ago)
