I don't get what all the fuss is about with rear cameras. OK if you drive a Range Rover or something it might help prevent you reversing over toddlers, but on a standard road car I don't see the point. If someone can't park a car using their 3 mirrors, parking sensors and their own two eyes and rotating neck, then should they really have a license?now: 2008 Octavia RS TSI manual sedan, yellow, Stage 1 tune, 185kw.
before: MY11 RS TSI manual wagon, race blue, sunroof, tint, MDI

I was almost going to agree and then I thought if the sensors are beeping but you don't see anything, it saves having to get out of the car to find out what is there. A few times now I have reversed into a car space with a garden behind the car and a couple of leaves have sent the sensors off early.Originally posted by Damo105 View PostI don't get what all the fuss is about with rear cameras. I'm agreeing. Not a deal breaker for me and I think you'd end up completely relying on the camera rather than looking in every direction and checking your mirrors.Originally posted by Damo105 View PostI don't get what all the fuss is about with rear cameras.
But I have been known to get a kick out of watching someone reverse park badly.... and also appreciate drivers who do it well (an ever dwindling number judging by the number of bumper scrapes you see on city cars)....
And while on the subject of "But"... included gadgets can be the competitive edge required for some purchases...

Very true, and this is the very reason I went for the Octavia RS. For the price, I simply could not find anything else on the market that had what it has!Originally posted by bobski View PostAnd while on the subject of "But"... included gadgets can be the competitive edge required for some purchases...MY10 Occy vRS \\ GIAC Flash Tune \\ 19" VMR v713 \\ It's a Skoda. The point is that I can confirm a reason for reverse cameras, rather than just a beeper. You could use the same argument with the reverse sensors; I only "use/need" them once in every 20 or more parks but hey - the car industry obviously saw the need for them and I expect the camera will follow.Originally posted by K1W1 View PostOut of how many? After recovering for the last 6 months from a smashed tib/fib, anything to reduce the burden of getting in and out of the car is good! Driving has been great since getting back behind the wheel a month ago. Getting in and out hasn't been as much fun.2015 MY16 Brilliant Silver Octavia vRS Wagon TDI DSG with Tech Pack, 19" black pack, pano roof and auto tailgate
