  • Skoda & Cycling

Seems there were a few threads with cycling related info so with the loss of posts it may be worth putting into one thread.

The reason I bought a skoda (apart from being half Czech) is from seeing them when at tour down under at the start of the year. Lots of white wagons as support vehicles. Was inspired! Am heading down again in a few weeks for a bit of bike riding & skoda watching.

I have the internal bike rack/holder on the way which will mean I can have the bikes locked inside when doing long drives. Part no 3T9056700. Will post up pics once I get it.

As for bikes I have a Norco Sasquatch (dirt), Iron Horse Mk111 Elite (xc), Intense Uzzi (dh) & Scott CR1 (roadie) all kitted up to the hilt of course.

I have a Salsa El Kaboing with Shimano gear that I bought ex-demo about 6 months back.

It's like this but I've since changed the wheelset & tyres to Hope / DTSwiss / Crossmark.

I have to upgrade sometime, still running a Trek 6700 hard tail/XC. Need to get a dually and do some more downhill work to tie in with my dirt bike racing training.
Quick question - anyone using a Thule towball mount bike rack?? Am about to buy a 3 bike one to slip onto the VRS when i have the roof box mounted on the roof racks, just wanted an opinion on how good/bad they are.

Which rack? The one where the bikes hang? Some are no good once mounted up with a few heavy bikes. I have a dual gripsport rack which is the business for my DH bikes etc. I am yet to get the tow kit put on the skoda though so will just carry them with the internal rack once it turns up.

Yeah im a fig fan of the Skoda's supporting the cycling.

Working in a bike shop I always take a quick glance at cutomers keys to see there 4 wheel mode of transport.

TDU should be good. Am going to be there from Wed arvo and am staying around Mclaren vale. Will just ride into the stage end for Thurs/Fri/Sat to watch the guys finish. Probably will not bother with the mutual ride that nearly killed me in the heat this year. Beers & local wine to finish off the day will go down nicely too. We may even have a few drinks Sat night for mates in the area, ill confirm closer to the date.

Ill be on the 2010 Scott CR1 (Red/Black), completely modified with Easton carbon wheels & cranks, Dura-Ace, Neg G brakes etc. Is now a 6.5kg bike complete. Is easy to spot.

I like the BMC, i am thinking of upgrading my frame to a BMC SLR01 soon.

Nothing flash at all about my bike (flat bar road bike), but it still goes OK with the baby seat on the back. Might go for somethign nicer when i lose that requirement.

Im in the market for a new jersey, and would happily goa Skoda one, but none available

Gee you guys are keen. I could get two really good camera lenses for $14k or a new motorcycle for me or a brand new car for my daughter. In the case of the latter two I wouldn't even need to pedal up hill.

I am doing the Mutual Community Tour in Jan., Just picked up a new bike in Saturday. Giant TCR advanced 2. Will take some getting used to after riding 7000ks on my Merida. Feels weird in a good way.

                      TCR ADVANCED 2 (2011) - Bikes | Giant Bicycles | Australia

We do a lot of riding around the hills at weekends, mainly on the road these days. The MTBs have been gathering dust for quite a while now.

Looking forward to the tour coming to town, I have a few days off that week, so I'll be out and about to catch the finishes.

I rode up Gorge Road and Checker Hill the other week with the boys. Checker Hill will sort the men from the boys on the MCCT ride.

Have a look through this thread, page 8

Yeah I did, never made it though as had to head into work early. Mate of mine is friends with him and he may make an appearance at our place during the TDU for a few beers.

I am planning to do the 2012 Phil Anderson Giro D’Italia tour. The 2011 trip plan looks awesome.

                            Skoda cycling apparel?

Hey there everyone. Good to see some other Aussie, Skoda owning, cycling enthusiasts out there!

Would any of you happen to know where I could find some decent Skoda cycling apparel? I think it's amazing that they spend so much money sponsoring the sport, but there doesn't appear to be a Skoda jersey, knicks or even socks out there!

Would love to pick up one of the Skoda King of the Mountain jerseys from the Tour Down Under.

                            Cheers

I asked a similar question on the previous page (or at least mentioned I'd like a Skoda jersey). I haven't been able to find anything Aussie (sorry, one with Skoda a secondary sponsor I think), nothing on UK sites, SuperSkoda is out of stock of jerseys and 54euros anyway and Skoda.de has small and medium but doesn't appear to deliver outside Europe (not that I've emailed them...)
