I'm with aslsw and his ideas seem like the go.
Lets just go for it - Location great for this end part the country and i'm sure we could find an area for us all to show off (i mean the cars or do I !).

Like the idea of getting the banners to highlight to everyone what is actually going on and i dont think we should exclude dealers.
Any way you can count me in and the date is in the diary (19th / 20th February is good).

Will look forward to meeting all that attend - and i may even have had chance to get the car back to the dealers to have the bluetooth fitted by then (LOL - work is murder at the moment).

Excellent.. great to see the ideas flowing, i was thinking maybe a Bowral/Moss Vale meet point as thats nominal distance for all involved and there are many big parking spots near sporting grounds on the main road, or the Robertson Pie shop carpark which is huge, and theres a picnic area there too. Some lovely road trips around there could include heading down Jamberoo rd to Kiama where we could head to Berry and then head up to Kangaroo Valley, Fitzroy Falls and back to Moss Vale...

If anyone knows the area well and can suggest some where for picnic area with a big car park close to the main road so we can show off our machines as a group.

The date seems practical so far for me too.

Bummer mate, well maybe the Canberra group could have a Sunday drive sometime before then?

I wouldn't recommend meeting at the pie shop its busy on Sundays and is usually full with bikes and so are most of the roads. I 'd look more toward the Hume, maybe Maccas car park just south of the Illawarra Hwy Exit.
For lunch I would suggest either Kiama, parking up near the blow hole or Berry. Both have a good selection for lunch and there are a few different places to park. But given that its summer both places may be busy.
The loop suggested through Kangaroo Valley is a good drive and the meeting point is reasonably accessible for those coming from both Canberra and Sydney. When I've done this run with other groups the Sydney blokes usually meet at either Heathcote Maccas then come down the F6 to Picton Rd then down the Hume. OR Meet at the cross roads Casula and get straight on the Hume there.
Sounds like a good run and it sure would be good to see a group of these great cars together. Hope I can get the weekend off.

My own preference is for somewhere in the Southern Highlands through to the coast area (Kiama, Berry). I think I will definitely take a drive through there at some stage, but as I've only really been through there a couple of times I would appreciate advice on good spots and also what it is like in summer (noting the intention is to avoid school holidays).

I like the idea of a winery - purely for the scenery of course.

Keep the ideas coming. Also, indicative numbers so that we know how big or small to aim for.

Finally, a Canberra event would be good but only 3 weeks to go till you know what....

I d count out the Pie shop at Robo. to. Way to crowded on the weekend. Gerroa Fishermans club at Gerringong does excellent meals, great view and good parking. Not far from Berry.

Just to clarify - I assume this will be a "family friendly" event? I have two young monkeys and a missus to think about!

I'm sure it will be a family event but i doubt that i will get any of mine along as it is not for them.

                          Meeting location Suggestion

Southern Highland Wines - Welcome to Southern Highland Wines

This winery is on the main drag through Sutton Forest. Has food etc.

I was there last year at the Sutton Forest Xmas Fair and I think it would lend itself to our purpose.

I agree - this should definitely be a family event. Not that my kids will be there...

I have created a map in Google that shows four drives between Moss Vale and the coast. I have also added in vineyards (although I wonder about a map that doesn't show any other landmark). Hopefully this map works.

I like the idea of a vineyard as somewhere to stop to eat, it offers a bit more seclusion than just turning up at the Robertson pie shop. But the food at Southern Highland Wines is a bit expensive - not an issue for me, but I'm sensitive that it could be for some people. Where we choose to eat will determine the structure of the day a bit - I was thinking we could start with a meet-and-greet over snacks, take our drive and then stop, eat and socialise at the end of the drive.

Looking at the map, I plan to drive a loop of Drives 1/2 and Drive 3 during the holidays to see what's there.

Not that I'll be able to make it, but can I throw in a route suggestion (and, being a Scout owner, it does have a bit of gravel, although not rough) - Woodhill Mt and Wattamolla Rds out fo Berry are far less crowded than Berry Mountain, and nicer in their own way. Maybe 3-4km of gravel on Wattamolla Rd before you meet up with Kangaroo Valley Rd.

Otherwise, your suggestions look great, and I've done each of them many times!

I have reserved the weekend of 19-20 Feb but we will need to vote on the day. Saturday will mean bringing the kids along, Sunday I should be free.

Can we all vote on the day at this stage? I prefer Sunday 20th Feb.
