Thats a very interesting twisty (narrow) in parts but it is sods law you meet a truck, caravan or somebody out for a leisurly Sunday drive.
It definately spoils the fun when that happens.
Yep - which is odds-on on a weekend. Especially if you are up it.

Quieter road on that side of Sydney is through Robertson on the Illawarra highway and then through Macquarie pass. Lots of nice back roads around Jambaroo/Kiama...

Not a problem at for the Scout - and beautiful countryside through Sassafras, especially when its misty. Heading to Jamoberoo on Saturday, but prob won't get time to go up the pass (Jamberoo Mountain, rather than Macquarie, that is)

Why don't we just pick a date and book it in. My approach to things is that if its in the calendar, it gets done. Everything else is just a maybe.

February 2011 is fine for me.

So dealer adds aside! Are people interested in catching up for a social meeting with stacks or great looking Skoda's of all models and variants?? and a quiet group drive around some great roads.. there are tonnes around the Canb/Syd area.. so I guess it really comes down to how far we want to drive? There have been some ideas planted, but everyone seems to have different ideas.
I seriously don't care about the drive as i know any Skoda would be fun on any drive on any good road...

Late Jan/early Feb could work for most as the next few weeks is generally madness for everyone.. so lets get some serious ideas going gang!

Definitely sometime in the new year would be good, there's never any time before Christmas/NY.
Bell's Line Of Road, looping around back through the Blue Mountains is a good drive, but may be a little far for our Canberra Cousins...

Ok guys, It seems i have peeved off TRIVETT, who has taken my simple comment as a personal insult to his offer, and believed that it was my way of saying No dealers allowed or wanted on this event. This is not the case and its not my place to say no you cannot come along.

So being a pretty pragmatic guy I will happily say that my use of those words was simply intended to move on to the question of actually trying to get a plan underway, not an attack on him personally which he seems to believe it is.

Added to that, as per the PM to TRIVETT, I'm sorry if you read my clear use of words as a personal attack which it's not intended to be and hope you come along as all are welcome.

A car salesman may also be an enthusiast car fanatic !

                          To CanberravRS,
Some sell cars, others live eat & breathe cars , I happen to be both & drive day will be enjoyed have no doubt

                            Here is my proposal:

Date: Saturday 19 February 2011 OR Sunday 20 February 2012. This should miss all school holidays etc. These dates are already in my calendar.

Location: Somewhere in the triangle of Sydney - Wollongong - Canberra. That should maximise the number of people attending.

Food: I think outdoor eating would better to help us all mingle with strangers. This suggests that a BBQ would be better (and we keep an indoor location in mind in case of rain).

Activities: I'm not fussed about the drive (but NO DIRT ROADS, my Skoda never touches the dirt!). However, some ideas:
                            • somewhere with plenty of space so we can get good photos of lots of Skodas in the one place eg. an oval in a country town (prefer to not have photos of a plain old carpark),
                            • finish the event off with somewhere to eat (eg. late-ish lunch, early tea). I think it is good to have lots of time to socialise and then people can drift off as they need to,
                            • if it rains, we press on regardless,
                            • for other Canberra owners, I would like to travel in convoy if only to impress everyone else on the highway!
                            • maybe some sort of ice-breaker activity. I invented a funny one where people make up stories about each other, which is much better than the boring truth.

Who: We're such a small (elite?) group that anyone who loves their Skoda should come along - that includes dealers. It would be really great if a dealer provided some professional banners to emphasise our presence.

Next steps: Does anyone have any suggestions for a location that ticks all of the boxes? If you make a suggestion, then I might go on a scouting trip in the Christmas/New Year break.

                              Oh blast.
I was thinking of going to NZ to see Mick Andrews that weekend.
Seriously, I am but the drive to the area is probably too far for me anyway and you wouldn't want a dirty motorcycle there to spoil the view. What I have got to contribute is to ask if there are any wineries in the area. They are usually good from a scenic or photography point of view and if you tell them you have 6-12 cars or whatever the number is showing up for a meeting you might even score a bottle or two for prizes.

I would suggest somewhere in the near south of Sydney, nice driving roads in National Park, great views of the coast etc and would be easier for the ACT guys to leave via Picton Road. I would suggest either a picnic area in the southern end of the park or Sublime Point which has huge grounds for BBQ's and fun and a great view of Wollongong. it also has the advantage of being close to my place, very important that bit. I have just taken delivery of an ex Skoda fleet Superb and am ordering a wagon to replace it. I figure it will take them so long to deliver it I will need a new car by then.
