Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

Unless it is something new, it didn't give electric seat adjustment on the Octavia VRS, just leather. (In Australia anyway)

      +1
we don't get "electric seats" period. the oz spec'ed octavia vrs.
and that's also the reason why we don't electric fold & drop (for reversing) wing mirrors. it has do with the "memory" used.

      our nz counterparts do though!

Hmm it used to be an option when I bought mine, I thought it still was. I just don't know anyone who got it though.

I'm not sure that any RS' get any form of electric seat adjustment... Of course I could be wrong but I've never seen it in an RS brochure anywhere. Even looking at the RS NZ brochure it's not there.

Well it's been a while since I originally posted up this topic. Still haven't purchased a new skoda yet, but will be just before christmas. We lost track for a while, considering other cars but once we jumped back into the skoda - we felt at home again. Nothing can match it for value - and I loveee the stereo!

Can anyone comment on the alarm option? We will be keeping this car for a few years and I'm still considering the leather - but much prefer the fabric look.. decisions decisions!

Had mine two years , love the fabric , no sliding around like the liberty 3.0r leather , and besides what you save you can put towards an ECU upgrade .

Had mine done two weeks ago , powers up to 180 odd kw torks 400 + , best thing i ever did , pulls like a train .

Have not had any issues with the car at all , great economy and bags of space in the wagon , mine came std with alarm , pre FL .

              Happy car hunting .

dru - I know that Trivett's already have some MY10 / MY11 models that i think are at a great price.
PS - I am not a salesman, but was very happy with the service i received from them and i am always looking at what they have on the web site.

If you require more detail then PM me and i can send details if required.

You will also see from the signature that i optioed the leather seats and i love them, although a little bit more styling with different colours wouldnt go a miss.

Thanks for the info. I saw that they have a few of the MY10 ones at a great price. In fact, yesterday I got talking to a dealership about some of the MY10 stock that they have left in the country and his going to get back to me today and hopefully they have a manual petrol in blue, red or white (specified by the boss lol). They were talking significant savings by taking the my10 model, personally I don't need Sat Nav so if I can get the car cheaper without it - I'm not too fussed.

If you don't mind me asking, how much was the ECU upgrade and where did you get it from? 180kw & 400nm is amazing! Obviously this is something that has to be carried out when your warranty has finished?

Thats one thing I really love about the car, it's got some balls and still gets great fuel economy!

Bummer to hear about the waiting list to get these cars now. I will be buying another Skoda in 2 years when my RS turns 3. Looks like I might have to order it very early so I get it on time!

I was lucky when I ordered my FL vRS. I ordered myn before the FL arrived based on the photo. It was allocated to me from stock on the boat in transit and I had it 3 weeks later.

If your worried about depreciation, then DONT order any extras. The extra money things like leather and xenon lights is not value for money at all. I have the standard spec RS and everything is brilliant. Seats still look like brand new!

Not long now! Looks like we will recieve the car before the new year (fingers crossed!)....I couldn't imagine how you guys felt waiting for 5 months, it's been nearly 2 weeks and I am just too excited!!!

On another note, unfortunately we still haven't been able to sell our astra! We are hoping to have a buyer soon but it's hard to tell really isn't it. The car is great and I think, very reasonably priced too! This is the link, we are offering a Dan Murphy's voucher to anyone who finds us a buyer too Holden Astra

I can say from personal experience, that this time of year for some reason is really hard to sell cars (and houses really). You have to wait until Feb pretty much.

We just had someone put down a $1000 deposit on our Astra. A little bit lower then we wanted but it's still a half decent price, will pay for a couple of things and leave some money left some. Have to be happy with that - right at the right time too...hoping to have my hands on the keys this thursday!!!
