I will wait until I speak to Skoda Australia before making a final decision. Might have to make a reluctant change and go a Subaru Outback.
Well fingers crossed mate that they sort it.. would hate to see you driving a lesser car such as the Outback.

I have been told the delays are right across the AG group. I think that is a cop out for not knowing. I will expect them to come back with something a little more concrete than that! No-one else seems to have had their order put back by more than 3 months!

If it were 1970 I could believe that but in 2010 that's complete and utter b/s.

It's good to see Tapatalk is working again. I've been getting a message saying the server plug in on this site is out of date for weeks.

Maybe we should word both Skoda Aust & VW Aust up (e-mail addy's on their sites) that these forums are showing just how lazy they are becoming and it's being noted by the growing membership base. To not supply us with truthful acurate information is treating us as idiots - well I say f@#ken wake up to yourselves Skoda/VW!!

With growing concern I'd been watching everybody post their updated details on CanberravRS's thread 'Its on it way!!!!! Wooohooo'. Finally yesterday I couldn't handle it anymore and called the dealer (for the third time in three weeks!) only to be told there’s nothing in the system so it's not even built yet. Obviously our scheduled Oct 21st delivery wasn't going to happen!

Further inquiries prompted a 'Maybe Xmas?' estimate to which I replied, 'We can't wait that long, I won't accept the car if it arrives that late.'

THAT got a response... less than an hour later they had the VIN and build date! Week 37, Day 1 (13 Sept) - it won't make the next boat but should be here in Nov at least.

Good news on one hand, but I've spoken to the dealer one other time since it was built and got nothing. Fair enough it might have been the dealer being lazy... but this time he forwarded me the emails from VW Aus. At 11:15am yesterday they stated they have no information - 'I had a look, it’s not in our system yet. Try next week'. He immediately replied that we wanted to cancel the order then 19 minutes later (11:34am) they responded with everything about the car except the shipping date?!?!

Are the staff at VW Aus honestly that useless? I went through the same thing when I ordered the Golf...

I know our win with dates doesn't help you but if you are having second thoughts re-check your contract. Ours has a little section about the dealer being required to notify us in writing about extended delays... and I'm certain we could opt-out if the delay was longer than a specified period.

                      I totally agree in principle and would love to... but unfortunately I think it'll fall on deaf ears because;

                      a) Sales are climbing
                      b) Users of this forum are probably a very small percentage of their clientele
                      c) We're (mostly) all happy with our vehicles... once we get them!

                      Why would they care?

When I bought the Golf I was scathing in the sales & pre-delivery service part of the post-pickup satisfaction survey... or so I thought. What did I get as a response?

'Thank you for taking the time to fill out the survey, we trust you are happy with your vehicle... etc, etc. Please feel free to contact your nearest VW Dealer if you have any questions... etc.'

I think that says it all.

I got an official response from Skoda this morning:
"I have received confirmation of the reason from Skoda. As was mentioned to both you and I from the Dealership it is a production delay. The delay has been caused by the lack of production capacities in turn caused by high demand worldwide."

I have requested a few things to sweeten the deal because we are seriously considering dropping the order.
We requested that they push production back from week 49 into sometime in January so that it has a 2011 production date. We also requested floor mats, rear cargo net, rear rubber mat and umbrella (since this is supposed to be missing on current deliveries).
I will await their response before making a call.

There is another consideration, its my understanding that they build based on colour Batching, so they wait till they have an amount of a colour and run it, as that is the most efficient. Being that Purple Amethyst isn't a common colour it may have also assisted in pushing your build later.
I could be full of it.. but its a comment i had heard from a few dealers.
