I was hoping my week 35 build car was going to be on the ship that just left or the one at the end of September so I rang the dealer today to confirm. I just got an email back from the dealer saying production has now been put back to week 49!!!!

I know there is possibly nothing I can do but I now have to seriously think can I be bothered to wait another 3 and 1/2 months.This will push back delivery to around Feb next year if my calculations are correct. That will equate to an 8 month wait.

Does anyone have any suggestions????

Re-negotiate your contract. Get a few options put on at no extra charge. They're on the back foot now, make the most of it.

A 14 week delay at the factory sounds odd. Where did you get the week 35 build from in the first place?

Depends on the sales contract. If there is nothing in it about delivery times then nothing has changed as far as the contract is concerned and more than one dealer I could name would give the buyer a hard time if the buyer tried to renegotiate or back out.

I have an estimated delivery date on November 1st! Not sure what extras I could ask for I have already loaded the car up as much as it could

Directly from the email today from the dealer but not the sales person- " From the latest update from Skoda distribution the build is scheduled as week 49 of this year. There has been some production delay but I have Skoda coming on a dealership visit next week and will have more information on all our outstanding orders."

When did you order the car?? as mine was ordered in the last week of APR knowing it would be a 6-7 month wait for a V6 Superb Wagon, as the dealer was on the ball with head office and knew the delivery times well.
All the dealers i spoke with around the country all stated much the same thing.. order in Apr and delivery Late Oct or mid Nov.

Sorry to hear that things have fallen over for your order, sounds like the dealer might have pooched the order?

I ordered either at the end of June or beginning of July. There was a cut off date that dealers had then (Dealers had a letter from Skoda Australia saying that orders by such and such a date only could be confirmed for November delivery) I had the dealer call me before that date to get the colour I wanted to ensure the order went in by the cut off date. I thought all was well...... until now.....

There was talk on the Briskoda site about the colour, kessy and panoramic roof but I just put that down to being BS. I will nee dto call the dealer tomorrow to sort things out.

It stinks i know - I had a similar but not exactly the same, your dealer isn't Steve Jardin is it by any chance.

I have been in that situation and i totally understand your frustration i hope some good comes from it all.

Sorry for your pain mate I (kinda) know how you feel. We had a roller coaster ride ourselves yesterday dealing with VW Australia…

With growing concern I'd been watching everybody post their updated details on CanberravRS's thread 'Its on it way!!!!! Wooohooo'. Finally yesterday I couldn't handle it anymore and called the dealer (for the third time in three weeks!) only to be told there’s nothing in the system so it's not even built yet. Obviously our scheduled Oct 21st delivery wasn't going to happen!

Further inquiries prompted a 'Maybe Xmas?' estimate to which I replied, 'We can't wait that long, I won't accept the car if it arrives that late.'

THAT got a response... less than an hour later they had the VIN and build date! Week 37, Day 1 (13 Sept) - it won't make the next boat but should be here in Nov at least.

Good news on one hand, but I've spoken to the dealer one other time since it was built and got nothing. Fair enough it might have been the dealer being lazy... but this time he forwarded me the emails from VW Aus. At 11:15am yesterday they stated they have no information - 'I had a look, it’s not in our system yet. Try next week'. He immediately replied that we wanted to cancel the order then 19 minutes later (11:34am) they responded with everything about the car except the shipping date?!?!

Are the staff at VW Aus honestly that useless? I went through the same thing when I ordered the Golf...

I know our win with dates doesn't help you but if you are having second thoughts re-check your contract. Ours has a little section about the dealer being required to notify us in writing about extended delays... and I'm certain we could opt-out if the delay was longer than a specified period.

Spoke to the dealer this morning and expressed my displeasure. They are going to get Skoda Australia to contact me. The dealer suggested it might be because of the colour we ordered since they do them in batches and maybe the colour we ordered is not in high demand but this was only a thought he had. I will wait until I speak to Skoda Australia before making a final decision. Might have to make a reluctant change and go a Subaru Outback.
