Welcome to the new look VWWatercooled

After much work and little sleep there is a new version of the forums running on more powerful and recent hardware as well as an upgraded software platform.

Things are mostly the same, but some things are a little different. We will be learning together, so please post questions (and answers if you've worked things out) in the help thread.

The new forum software is an upgraded version of what came before, it's mostly the same but also a little different. Hopefully easier to use and more stable than before. We are learning together here, so please be patient. If you have questions, please post them here. If you have worked something out and can provide an answer,

$269 is a good price. Considering its only done roughly once a year that price is very good. Most are $300 or above.

I think I paid just over $300 in Melbourne. I do remember that the oil cost more than the labour.
15k services come up for me about every 7 or 8 months.

        Service completed

I am happy to say the 15000 book service at Steve Jarvin went real well.

Full car computer report with no errors logged, I supplied my own oil to save $70, the car was washed and they confirmed that they programmed the computer for the reverse sensor/trailer recognition (although I have not tested it yet!).

All for $200 and it was ready 10 minutes before the promised time. They also drove me to a doctor appointment after I had a free coffee in their waiting area and watched the news. I am starting to think maybe they are OK after all!

Will be curious to hear how your tow bar programming went - I had troubles with my RS from SJ Skoda and it turned out to be a faulty Control Unit - which was faulty from the very first trailer hook up - only parkers worked and the odd turn signal, and the reverse sensros screaming their heads off when selecting reverse.
I got quoted $320 from SJ for the 15K servce on my RS TDI wagon with DSG, same price as the guys up here in Newcastle. what was interesting was asked SJ to send me a copy of the work schedule, which they did, and also told me SJ Skoda are closing it's doors as of the 30 Sep. I needed the tow bar Control Unit replaced before then ( I live in Newcastle by the way).
I've decided to book in with the local guys, and they are chasing up the Control Unit and also doing their own fault diagnosis on the tow bar before doing any replacements to make sure it's the correct repair. I also get a courtesy car for the day, Ashley has been very helpful and is allowing me to bring my own oil in ( I'm running Shell Ultra extra VW507 00 - sees to be what it came with as it had a nice Shell sticker under the bonnet).
Will let you know how it goes for the Newcastle based guys..........

Too bad they shut down! Although I don't think the service department has... I must say that I've not had that level of service from SJ; mine's been rather rubbish!

Yes, I asked them when they might be closing down.

They said the service dept were only recently told that SJ was losing the franchise. Someone on this forum thought the franchise would move to Rick Damelian, although the Service guy said he thought it would be moving to VW, which is just down the rod on the other side of Parramatta Rd. He seemed sorry that it was moving, showing off his nice Skoda wind jacket he was wearing!

Funny you mentioned this, after being happy with the service I find out later that the beeping still continues with the trailer connected..... Too late to go back to SJ so this is a chance to check out Rick Damelian.

well SJ told me they had their "trailer expert" in the day i dropped it off - What a crock of shyt!! Said they had rechecked the reverse sensor programming and it was all good, and for the lights that it was a faulty Tow Bar control unit & needed to order a new one. I've since taken the car into the Audi guys here in Newcastle, found the ECU hadn't had the reverse sensor disengage turned on ( programming) , found the Control unit had blown a fuse which they replaced that and got the lights working. But it now throws a light caution on the dash ( warning for a blown light) when you turn the parking/head lights on, which they also found but said to test with my trailer to see if it still came on. They said the only way they could get the caution light to not come on was with the North American program loaded on, which they think I have the wrong Control Unit installed. They have Skoda Aust chasing a new unit up under warranty and will have it replaced soon. The guys at Audi had this all sussed and fixed along with a 15K service, and washed the car in less then a day. Took SJ a full day to find squat and still not fix anything. I say good ridence to em!!

Thanks for the feedback. I was ready to just forget about it as the trailer is a once every two month affair, although maybe it is just a case of bringing it to someone that knows what they are doing....
