I know why Skoda's have the little clip for parking tickets on the A pillar
I know why Skoda's have the little clip for parking tickets on the A pillar
If you ever loose one of those silly parking meter tickets (the display on dash board ones) down the gap between the dash and the windscreen you will know why as well.
Isn't it called a "note holder" in the owners manual?
I didn't think it was designed to hold parking meter tickets.
If that is the case why does the owners manual say this?
"The note holder is designed e.g. for attaching a car park ticket in parking areas.
The attached note has to always be removed before starting off in order not to
restrict the driver's vision."
La Trobe uni has big ass visitor parking permits, I drive around with them in the holder all the time. I've never noticed that my vision is severely hampered. But I have put actual notes in the holder as well. Eg, this ticket machine is busted yet again....I use mine quite a lot if I think about it for work.
My first car was an '82 Ford Meteor Ghia (twin carb) and I bought it when it was 12 yrs old and I was 16. The original owners still had it, but could'nt find any old service history stuff, and lost the rego papers for that year amongst other things when I bought it. A few years later I was fiddling with something in underneath the dash (and under where the glove box was) and out fell about 12 yrs worth of rego papers, bills, bank statements still in their envelopes and a spare key. There was a gap in the back of the glovebox between panels and after a while anything envelope thin slid into it and disappeared down inside the dash to eventually pile up down the back of it against a panel. When I made a gap in that panel, they were all free. I wonder where the Skoda one goes....
I'm sure the visibility thing in the manual is a result of the legal departments input rather than anything practical.
I just wish there were clips on both sides. The drivers side is no good for parallel parking hence ther original dilema. I did actually retrieve the ticket eventually.
I didn't even think to look in the manual about it - when I first got the car I assumed it was a showroom display device and spent the first few weeks intermittently trying to pull it out, as it was in my peripheral vision. Then the dealer told me it was a "feature" - now I use it weekly, and it's fit for purpose....
OMFG, my wife dropped one down there on Sunday at the Zoo after waiting 20min to get to the meter, every man and his dog decided to go there on Sunday. If I had seen what she was trying to do I would have stopped her, but in normal cars there isn't room to drop them down there, rather than leave it flat on the dash she deliberately dropped it right down there, with just a corner sticking out. We had to go get another ticket and it didn't move so I meant to try and carefully fish it out with tweezers yesterday. I forgot and driving to work today the windscreen defrost came on and promptly sucked it down further.
There are no words to describe how utterly stupid that design is, the fans intakes must be down there as well, as the ticket starting fluttering the whole way home tonight driving me nuts as it got sucked further down. Its an awful angle too, pretty much impossible to see down in there from any angle without shining a torch and looking for a reflection. After trying a vacuum cleaner, and then a can of compressed air, I eventually found a helium balloon stick and walked it slowly over to the side where the gap tapers up. My wife has promised to never ever try and put a ticket down there and to always use the clip.
Yup, I thought it was a little tag the dealer fitted temporarily to hold their price sign. Me and my brother twisted it back and forth to try and remove it but had no luck. Luckily it's still in perfect condition and can now be used for it's intended purpose.
Would have preferred it a bit lower to be honest, as it is in my vision and annoys me. Suppose i'll get used to it.

I thought exactly the same thing until I saw a Superb with it and realised what it was
