      The white looks great

Got the tint done today. The hacks at Tint Professor sliced one of the interior rubbers. Jacked off big time. Anyway it's getting replaced Wednesday but what a crappy job. Some of the tint is rough so it's getting redone. Think the guy may have had a one too many drinks last night.

Can anyone tell me if there is any play along the top aspect of the door trims in the rear passenger doors (closest to the glass). They seem to move quite a bit with a distinct squeak that I don't remember being there previously. The front doors are rock solid.

Another thing is the am radio antennae is in the back quarter window of the wagon so they told me a metalised film would stuff the reception. Wasn't game to try so took their advice.

One interesting thing. The tint has shown up some acid rain damage on the glass. Shows up as white water droplet etchings on all glass. Wasn't visible till the film went on. Dealer is having them buffed off when it goes back on Wed, but I was told a light rub with steel wool would do the trick, but I'm not game to try that!

**** bacdoc, sorry to hear about the window tinting. I thought you were going to Tint a car in Nth Melb or did I just think it? We are going there unless anyone has had any bad experiences. I think thats where the dealer sends them?

That really sux mate, I've had some poor tint experiences unfortunatley. Word of advice i wouldn't use steel wool on windows, it will scratch it even if fine, there has to be a better solution than that. Make a friendly call to a detailer to see what they recommend....

          Looking forward to some pics!!!!

Try using a detailing clay bar first, it usually lifts of some the contaminants. If you think it's acid rain etched in then I'd be looking at your paint work too.
You may find it's only calcium deposits from water when it was washed sometime before, in which case it wont take too much to remove.

Sorry to hear about the tint experience. I hope that it gets rectified properly.

As far as squeaks in the rear door goes that seems to be a relatively common issue if you read through Briskoda. Mine seems to be developing a small squeak in that area as well but only intermittently so I haven't made any serious effort to resolve it.

Valid point about the paintwork but what can you do? Windows looked perfect until the tint went on so how would you see it on white duco? Apparently this is a very common problem for most imported European cars.......

Actually, it's what paint shops use to get rid of aerosol droplets, btu you need to be light with it.

Try shining a high powered single emitter LED torch at an angle (or even almost parallel) to the bodywork. This will show up most paintwork/panel flaws (but don't be surprised if you see stuff you don't like).

For the glass I'd try detailing clay first, then if that didn't remove it I'd use Amway metal polish (yes, metal polish). I find it cleans up my windows without scratching (but apply and remove wet).

If you are worried about any technique (eg steel wool, metal polish) try it on a small, inconspicuous spot first, then check your results very carefully.
