My RS TSI has averaged just over 8L/100 k's (actual) with a reading of 7.5-7.6 each time the trip meter resets. Last fill was 49L right on the nose for 648 k's. Always use 98 as its got a bluefin on it.

I do about 60/40 hwy - city. The highway I do is ipswich rd however in opposite direction to peak hr (still heavy tho). I'm stoked with the economy versus power part. Most people dont believe me when I tell them i never get less than 600 out of a tank

Over 2 years and 22,000km the TDI manual has averaged 7.5l/100km.
The best has been 5.7 and 5.8, both being trips to Qld.
                The worst ever was 9.7l/100.

Considering this is based on 4 daily trips of about 1km each to drop the kids off at the bus stop, weekend drives to the parents about 3km away and the occassional trip out to Blacktown for a jam/gig. The wife and I both have heavy right feet and you cannot drive anywhere from Concord (Sydney) without being in traffic....
