I bought a pre-FL vRS wagon in the runout sale at the end of July. Three days later, the dealership informed me that they didnt have a car to sell me as someone else bought it just before me in Richmond Victoria on the same day.

I didn't want a yellow one which was the only colour left. So my dealership said they would give me a ripper price on the FL version. I wanted 'candy white' and manual petrol and they had 1 on the boat already in transit from the first shipment. I wasnt interested in any 'options' as the car has fantastic standard spec so I took that one. It arrived 4 weeks later.

May not be relevant as the topic suggests time from build to delivery. Just thought I would share my story.

^interesting about shipping times. Why does it take so long after it is unloaded to getting to the dealers?

It has to get onto the wharf then cleared through Customs then Patricks have to do the ADR and compliance stuff (check that the car complies, fit the compliance plate, make sure that they was no damage or theft in transit (which has to then be rectified) then get it on a big truck to the dealer.
Once the dealer actually gets it they have to take the protective coverings off



do the wash and wax and all the mechanical pre delivery stuff, fit any dealer or third party options (tinted windows) and register the vehicle. In my experience it's usually 48-72 hours from the time the vehicle actually arrives at the dealership before they can deliver it to the end user but that does vary a bit.

Well the boat has left Germany and will arrive 7 Feb. I hope it not cutting it too fine for the Feb 28 cut off for $2000 xtras promo.
We are playing a guessing game what the number plate will be. Probaly still in the X's. Good game to pass the time on long drives trying to pick the "newest" plate.

Have you bought your car yet? I would've thought that would form part of the negotiation.

The MDI interface (and I suspect Bluetooth on the autos) are coming fitted from the factory so I guess that you will get those regardless.

I ordered my Octavia RS 30th Sept 2009.

Car was built 27th Nov 2009

Car on a boat 11th Dec 2009

Car due Melbourne 21st Jan 2010

Delivery will most likely be mid-Feb 2010

When I ordered the car I was told I wouldn't have it until the end of Jan 2010 so I guess so far pretty spot on.

It's all about meeting expectations, so it's better not to promise too much, otherwise you can't be anything but disappointed

How could we negotiate about a promotion if it wasn't on yet?

MDI would be great but will be replacing Headunit when it arrives. I might swap with the Golf if I can.

The bolero is brilliant. unless you want satnav.....even then I hardly use satnav personally, so the tomtom stays in the glovebox on the rare occasion i need it. 32gb of MP3 on SHDC is bliss

I checked with the dealer and as I have essentially bought my car I am not entitled to the specials. I figured you had not bought yours yet and was simply waiting for stock to arrive to try and get that special. The way it's been explained to me we don't get the special. You know something I don't?

Plus no strings pulled. I did wonder about the dates as I realized you ordered first and mine is arriving first. Can only assume my dealer got the order in quicker:/

If you are referring to the current $2000 worth of freebies the dealer is wrong.
The $2000 deal applies to vehicles delivered to the customer between the beginning of December 09 and February 28 2010 regardless of when the vehicle was ordered. You should go back to your dealer and tell them to check again and come back with the correct answer this time.

People might want to read the fine print and then discuss with their dealers.......

Suzuki tried changing the fine print on a promotion a couple of years ago and it cost them a lot of egg on face and money out of pocket.

I would be interested to see if you can produce anything that demonstrates this. If you have a copy of an ad that indeed confirms this then I am sure that would be grounds to approach head offcie and ask for a please explain and maybe a call to the ACCC.
