  • Post your Skoda factory order delivery times here

It seems that the so called 3 month delivery for factory orders is something of a best guess on the part of dealers. For that reason I thought it would be a good idea to have a single thread detailing peoples factual experiences so that prospective buyers can go to dealerships armed with knowledge about what will really happen when they sign on the dotted.

    Here is my story;

Octavia VRS face lift model. Diesel, sedan, manual. The only factory fit option is the turning fog lights (for the novelty).

    Ordered: Friday 14 August 2009
Promised delivery 3 months (mid November 2009)
Vehicle loaded onto the ship in Europe 25 October 2009 (2 months and 10 days from order)
Vehicle unloaded in Melbourne 5 December 2009 (3 months and 3 weeks from order)
Vehicle arrived at dealership 15.00 hours 21 December 2009
Vehicle delivered with a couple of aftermarket issues to be attended to 2 pm 24 December 2009 (4 months and 10 days from order)

    What are other peoples experiences?

I'm glad I'm not the only person feeling frustrated by the long delay and misguided information over the last 2 months...

I ordered a petrol VRS facelift wagon (DSG) with extra options - 17/7/09.

I was also told a delivery around early november, but for the last 5 weeks have been given promised arrivals to the dealership (the car has been in Melb since oct).

Apparently it has something to do with the stock controlling side. I do feel sorry for the dealer because they're being misguided, but all I would like is a straight answer and none of this broken promises. I had numerous booked in appointments for various things being done to the car which the suppliers went out of there way to fit me in before christmas. These have now all been cancelled due to suppliers being booked up.

I don't think I'll be doing another factory order, and I won't be plugging VAG!

I ordered my Octavia RS 30th Sept 2009.

Car was built 27th Nov 2009

      Car on a boat 11th Dec 2009

Car due Melbourne 21st Jan 2010

Delivery will most likely be mid-Feb 2010

When I ordered the car I was told I wouldn't have it until the end of Jan 2010 so I guess so far pretty spot on.

It's all about meeting expectations, so it's better not to promise too much, otherwise you can't be anything but disappointed

Ordered my Face Lift RS TDI with DSG, with a tow bar in mid May, was told it would be here late August, was ready to pick up 2 weeks early ( early august ), so I can't complain about the delivery times.

That is unlikely to be true. Stock control is simply paperwork and paperwork can be resolved in minutes by a competent person and days by an incompetent one. Nobody takes 5 weeks to solve a paperwork problem.

I heard a story about some Skodas arriving contaminated somehow recently (saw dust in them was what I was told). The source was fairly good but I would not say it was 100%. Your delay is the sort of thing I would expect for a decontamination or worse if some serious damage had been done in transit and repairs were being carried out. Either way I would be talking directly with the dealer principal and demanding answers and if they weren't forthcoming go straight to Skoda, quote them the VIN and tell them that you feel that their dealer is not being truthful in their dealings with customers and ask them for an explanation.

In that case, I would be going with the microscope over the paint job looking for any body damage (talking from my own experience with my T5).

To be honest for an arrival in Melbourne on 5 December I was expecting delivery this week (the week before Christmas) so in that respect it's still within what I expected to be the normal schedule. What annoys me is that I think dealers tend to pluck dates out of the air rather than actually trying to get a real one. As long as my car is registered before 31 December (Kevins company tax bonus) I don't really care I just get annoyed when I know I'm being lied to.

If it becomes obvious that my car will not be able to be registered by 31 December Skoda may find themselves with an extra car in stock.

It's when it arrives here and then is put within stock control to dealers I've found the problem.

Funny you say that (dust problem). I think you'll find it was a wheat contamination problem on a particular shipment, well thats what they told me about 2 months ago when tracking the car over to Australia. Since the car has been here in Melbourne the last couple of weeks (already sent down from Sydney) all I've heard is that the stock controller for all VAG cars has been inundated and is trying to get my car to the dealer...and all I wanted was a straight answer.

I was thinking the same thing last week, but I had the call that they have at least got the car now at the dealer and awaiting pre-delivery.

With Kevins tax bonus is it that it needs to be registered before the 31st or just an order placed? I've heard mixed messages on this and was going to follow up with the ATO.

I have double & triple checked with my accountant - you only need a sales contract dated prior to 31st Dec 2009. No delivery/registration required

Your right. From the ATO websight
An additional tax deduction of 50 per cent of the cost of eligible new tangible depreciating assets where the business commits to investing in the asset between 13 December 2008 and 31 December 2009 and first uses the asset, or installs it ready for use, or (in the case of new investment in an existing asset) brings the asset to its modified or improved state on or before 31 December 2010.

In that case maybe we should tell the dealers to hold the registration until January 2010 then insist that they pass on the tax reductions.

Check ATO in relation to financing the new car

Hate to be the bearer of bad news but if you plan to finance this new car either via novated lease, Hire Purchase, Chattel mortgage or the like then the vehicle needs to be sold and delivered and finance documents signed before the 31st.

The ATO has ruled that although you are purchasing a new car the actual sale contract that you deduct from is the finance purchase documents.

If you are financing speak to your Accountant ASAP, i had to find out the hard way!!!!

Spoke to the my group of accountants again. A group of 6 very reputable accountants in the Bayside area, and as long as you have a sales contract (i.e. you can't pull out of the purchase) then it doesn't matter if it's financed.

I'd get a second opinion if I was you!
