Apparently there may be a new model of the AVC coming out which is compatiable with MK6 models. Hopefully find out early in the new year

Can the Garmin GVN 53 "Black box" GPS https://buy.garmin.com/shop/shop.do?cID=134&pID=10573 be somehow fitted to the Bolero unit?

Garmin are pretty anal about what market particular items can be supplied in and where and when they will give support. I suspect that if it's not on Garmins Australian web site there will be absolutely zero support or assistance here in Oz even if it does work.
If you want the official info I suggest that you contact Burnie at GPS Oz in Sydney. He is a Garmin whiz and a nice guy to boot and will be able to give you 100% correct advice.

Please note:
The GVN 53 is operated by the included RF remote control. When the GVN 53 is connected to a touch screen display, the included RF remote control is still required for unit operation. Touching the display screen will not operate the features of the GVN 53.
Display quality will vary depending on the screen being used
